Giorgio Armani was born on 11th July 1934. Piacenza, Emilia- Romagna in Italy is the birth place of Armani. He is an Italian fashion designer. He is the son of Ugo Armani and Maria Raimondi. He has been associated with many labels like Giorgio Armani S.P.A, Armani collezioni, Emporio Armani, Armani jeans, Armani Exchange, Armani Junior, Armani Casa. He owns a company named Armani. He founded his company in 1975. His work received a lot of appreciation. In 2001, the annual turnover of his company was $1.6 Billion.


Early life


Armani was raised in an Italian town named Piacenza. His father and mother raised Armani along with his two siblings. The name of his brother is Sergio and the name of his sister is Rosanna. He studied medical science from University of Milan. After three years, he left his studies and joined army. He was promoted to a higher post because of his medical education.



After pursuing army he joined a job of a Window Dresser at a departmental store situated in Milan. After sometime he became a seller of menswear and he earned a lot of experience about fashion industry through this job. Afterwards in the mid of 1960, Armani started working for Nino Cerruti and got the work of designing for menswear. He became so perfect in his work that soon he gathered fame in the industry because of his creativity and skills. His designs were in demand and Armani use to serve for more than ten industries simultaneously. Armani met Sergio Galeotti in the late 1960s and got inspired for proceeding further in his professional career. After many years Galeotti inspired him to open his working place for designing and so in the year 1973 Armani opened his own design office and started persuading his work from 37  Corso, Venezia in Milan.  After this set up his work he started getting offers from many big fashion houses which also includes Tendresse, Hilton, Sicons and many more. He was enjoying working freely rather than working under some authority where his credit was taken over by someone else. Armani  started working in fabulously and soon caught in  the press news.  Day by day Armani’s knowledge and experiencing was tremendously increasing and he started bringing in new innovation in the fashion field. Armani and Galeotti worked together towards creating their own logo and in the year 1975, they got Georgia Armani S.P.A. They first time launched their collection in October for both menswear and women’s wear for Summer and Spring time and received great applause. He creates a strange relationship which made it possible to produce luxury goods in the industry, after entering into the agreement with Gruppo Finanzario Tessile (GFT) in the year 1978. Thereafter in the year 1979, his corporation Giorgio Armani Corporation took birth, helped him in designing for United States in the lines of both men’s and women’s wear. Armani started achieving heights since he introduced many new products with his label which includes Giorgio Armani Accessories, Giorgio Armani Underwear’s etc. Later on he signed an agreement with L`Oreal for creation of perfumes followed by Armani jeans, Armani swimwears, Armani Junior, Emporio Armani lines and many more in the early 1982. Armani kept on thinking of new innovations and set up his boutique in Milan along with the Emporio store. He thought of designing product more stylish and trendy but of a price which can be afforded by the ordinary individual especially youngsters. He started feeling that his product needs some advertising and publicity so that his products can get more appreciation which they actually deserve. He thought of using street ads, emails to customer and the most effective one was using cinema, which can make the brand international. He collected all his approaches and convinced American Gigolo to use his designed costumes in the year 1980. After this Armani continues to design for many films and for a long period of time, he became one of most important costume designer for film industries. One of the most famous film, ‘The Untouchables’ (1987) movie costumes, were also designed by Armani only. In the year 1985, his best supporter Geleotti died. But the Armani continued to expand and flourish his boundaries across the world horizons.



Sports were one of Giorgio Armani interest field since he used to participate in that with great joy and enthusiasm. He was the big time fan of Inter Milan. Olimpia Milano basketball team was also under his guidance, he was the president of that team. He also designed clothes for many teams, till now he has designed for London club Chelsea, 2006 Winter Olympics, 2012 Summer Olympics and for Andriy Shevchenko who is a Ukrainian footballer. He designed the suits for Chelsea London club in august 2007 and is worn by them till now. In 2006 he designed the dress for the Italian flag bearers while opening of Winter Olympics in Turin. In the year 2012, he again designed for uniforms of Italy’s Summer Olympics. And then when Andriy Shevchenko was playing for A.C. Milan, then Armani designed for him with the number 7 and also introduced new brand range, EA7.
