The Outset Of Talent: Mikhail Baryshnikov was born in Riga, Latvia, which was then the part of Soviet Union, on 27th January, 1948. He is considered as one of the excellent Ballet dancers to embellish the international stage. Mikhail Baryshnikov began his ballet studies in his native, Riga, Latvia, at Leningrad choreographic school, in 1960. After an anticipating pop in the Kirov Ballet in Leningrad, he deserted to Canada for more opportunities in western dance. He joined the New York city Ballet as a chief dancer in order to get a line of George Balanchine’s styles of movement. Further, he danced with American Ballet Theatre (ABT), where he later became artistic director.

He was featured in the film “Dancers”, in 1987 and co-starred with Gregory Hines and Isabella Rossellini in the 1985 film, “White Nights”. He also co-starred in “Company Business” with Gene Hackman. In the year, 1989, he co-founded a Modern Dance Company and took on film, theatre and TV roles. Later in 2003, he was honoured with the “Lifetime Achievement Award”.

Baryshnikov firmly said that any kind of discrimination against the gay people was inhuman and untolerable. “Equal treatment of people is a basic right and it is sad that we still have to even speak about this in the 21st century”- he said and appreciated the No More Fear Foundation actively for stepping forward vigorously to render the essential aid to the sufferers.
