EARLY LIFE

Witherspoon was born in 1976 in Louisiana to the proud parents John Draper Witherspoon and Mary Elizabeth. She is of Episcopalian faith. She lived in Tennessee during her childhood. When she was only seven years old, she was selected as a model for a florist’s television advertisement. This motivated her to take up acting. She was a good child through and through. She was fond of reading and got good grades. She was also a cheerleader in high school. Witherspoon was an English Literature major in Stanford University but, she left the University after completing one year of studies in order to pursue a career in acting.

We all now know that Witherspoon’s debut movie was The Man in the Moon, in the year 1991. Her performance was widely appreciated. For this movie, she was nominated for the Young Artist Award. After this movie, she appeared on a lot of television movies like Wildflower, Desperate Choices: To Save My Child, A Far Off Place and so on. She also appeared in the miniseries Return to Lonesome Dove. She starred in the movies Fear and Freeway in 1996. With these movies, Witherspoon established herself as an upcoming star. All these roles also brought a lot of experience among Witherspoon’s way. In 1998, she starred in the movies Overnight Delivery, Pleasantville and Twilight.

Legally Blonde was a turning point in Witherspoon’s already quite brilliant career. The movie was a commercial success. She is a talented comedian. The movie got her an MTV Movie Award for the Best Comedic Performance. Following the success of this movie, she did movies like The Importance of Being Earnest, Sweet Home Alabama, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, Just like Heaven and Four Christmases. After Four Christmases, she starred in movies How Do You Know, Water For Elephants and This Means War. This Means War fared really bad on the critics and the box office front.
