John Joseph “Jack” Nicholson is an American actor, producer, writer and film director. He was born in New Jersey on April 22, 1937. In a long and prosperous career, Jack Nicholson has portrayed challenging and unique roles, and Oscar winning performances many of which include dark portrayals of psychopathic and neurotic characters. The 12 Oscar nominations in his career until now has made him the most nominated actor in the history of Academy Awards.

Nicholson has won the Academy Award for Best Actor twice, once for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and the other for As Good as It Gets. His breathtaking performance in the 1983 film Terms of Endearment won him the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Only two other actors, Walter Brennan and Daniel Day-Lewis, have won the same number of Academy Awards as Jack Nicholson i.e. three. Amongst his other notable performances are his roles such as Frank Costello in The Departed, Jack Torrance in The Shining and the Joker in 1989′s Batman. Alexander Emmanuel “Alex” Rodriguez also known as “A-Rod” by his fans is an American professional baseball player. Originally of Dominican descent, Alex Rodriguez was born on July 27, 1975. He plays as third baseman for the New York Yankees of Major League baseball (MLB). He has also played shortstop for the Texas Rangers and the Seattle Mariners. He was one of the most talented young players scouts had ever seen and is considered as one of the greatest baseball players of all time. His talent for baseball was recognized when he was still high school. At that time he was representing his school team and had already gained National Recognition. He was also awarded the USA Junior Baseball player of the year. However, Rodriquez’s career has been mired with controversies due to his expensive contracts and usage of illegal performance enhancing drugs.

Not only is he the youngest player ever to hit 500 home runs, breaking the record Jimmie Foxx set in 1939, but he is also the youngest to hit 600, besting Babe Ruth’s record by over a year. Rodriguez’s record of 14 100-RBI seasons in his career is the most by any player in the history of baseball. On September 24, 2010 Rodriguez became the all time leader in home runs by a player of Hispanic descent, surpassing Sammy Sosa’s mark of 609 home runs.

In 2007, Alex Rodriquez broke another record when he signed a new 10 year contract with New York Yankees for $275 million. Breaking his previous record contract of $252 million, this was the richest contract in the history of baseball. OOPS!

In February 2009, a report in Sports Illustrated claimed that Rodriguez had tested positive for two anabolic steroids Primobolan and testosterone during his 2003 season playing for the Texas Rangers, the same season in which he captured his first American League Most Valuable Player award, broke 300 career home runs and earned a Silver Slugger Awards. This information was part of a government sealed report which had claimed that over 100 MLB players had been tested positive for performance enhancing drugs during a 2003 drug survey. After the leak of the report became a huge controversy, in an interview with ESPN Rodriguez admitted to using drugs during 2001-2003 citing an enormous amount of pressure to perform.

As if this wasn’t enough, there was another accusation against him that he had received HGH (Human Growth Hormone) from Biogenesis of America, an anti-aging clinic in Coral Gables, Florida. Everyone was under the impression that he Rodriguez would be suspended for his involvement. The first confirmation came on August 3, 2013 MLB rebuffed the players’ union’s last-minute offer to negotiate. Instead, as a result of this Rodriguez got until the afternoon of August 4 to reach an agreement regarding a greater punishment or suspension for his alleged role in the Biogenesis affair. As a result of the Biogenesis scandal investigation, Alex Rodriguez was suspended for 211 games on 5^th August 2013. But he was allowed to play while the suspension was under appeal. The original suspension, had it been upheld, would have been the longest non-lifetime suspension in baseball history. His suspension was reduced to 162 games after an arbitration hearing.

Such were the previous contracts signed by Alex Rodriguez that even if he would have been banned for life he would still get some money. Shocking isn’t it. Apparently, if the lifetime ban would have become a reality Texas Rangers would still have to pay him $40 million. CBS New York reported:

“After playing for the Mariners from 1994-2000, A-Rod signed a 10-year, $252 million deal with Texas, at the time the richest contract in sports history. The club still owes the three-time Most Valuable Player approximately $40 million in deferred money from the initial contract that A-Rod signed in 2000, according to the newspaper. That figure will eventually grow to almost $50 million. The Rangers will pay the 38-year-old from 2016-2025, according to the Dallas Morning News.”

One must have thought that after being involved in such a big scandal he would be hit financially and would have to pay for his mistakes. Well they were wrong. He will continue earning despite not playing. Well, good for him!

You are probably wondering, how someone’s net worth can be in the negative. You are probably even wondering who Allen Iverson is. First let’s focus on Allen Iverson then we will get to his jaw dropping net worth.

WHO IS ALLEN IVERSON?

I have to admit even I didn’t know who Allen Iverson was until I chose to write this article. Turns out he is a retired NBA star.

Allen Iverson was born on 7^th June, 1975 in Virginia, USA. Famously know as A.I, The Answer, and King Cross he is a former professional basketball player. Iverson completed his schooling from Bethel High School in Hampton, Virginia where he was a dual-sport athlete. Playing both football and basketball he was awarded the Associated Press High School Player of the Year award, and won the Division AAA Virginia state championship in both sports. After completing his high school, Iverson went to college to Georgetown University for two years, where he won Big East Defensive Player of the Year awards both years and set the school record for career scoring average (22.9 points per game).

In 1996 after two successful years at Georgetown Iverson declared eligibility for NBA Draft. He was immediately selected by the Philadelphia 76ers with the number one pick.  He was named the NBA Rookie of the Year in the 1996–97 season. Iverson was an eleven-time NBA All-Star and won the All-Star MVP award in 2001 and 2005.

Iverson won the NBA scoring title four times in his entire career (1998–99, 2000–01, 2001–02 and 2004–05 seasons). A man of small stature (listed at 6 feet, 0 inches) he is regarded as one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history. He held a regular season career scoring average of 26.7 points per game which is sixth in all-time ranking. and his playoff career scoring average of 29.7 points per game is second only to Michael Jordan. Iverson was also the NBA Most Valuable Player of The 2000–01 season when his team reached the NBA finals Iverson was name the NBA Most Valuable Player of the season. Iverson also represented the United States at the 2004 Summer Olympics, winning the bronze medal. He has also played for the Detroit Pistons, Memphis Grizzlies and the Denver Nuggets before ending his NBA career with the 76ers during the 2009–10 season. In 2008 ESPN rated him the fifth greatest NBA shooting guard of all time.

TROUBLE IN PARADISE

In 2012, Iverson filed for Bankruptcy after claiming that he was flat out broke. Subsequently, on 14^th February 2012 a Georgia Judge ordered the seizure of all of Allen Iverson’s bank accounts. This certainly comes as a shock given that his total career earnings were $ 155 Million as mentioned above. The figure of $ 155 Million is just through his earnings as a basketball player. It is believed that Iverson earned an additional of $ 30- $ 40 Million through endorsements and merchandising deals. Iverson certainly isn’t the first professional athlete to face such a financial ordeal. It is alleged that he travelled with an entourage of as many as 50 people at times. He had a habit of showering his friends and family, especially his mother, with jewelry, cars, expensive vacations and houses. Iverson’s most recent financial trouble came when he was ordered by a judge to pay $ 900,000 to a Georgia jeweler but apparently he doesn’t have a single dime to his name.

The Bankruptcy that Iverson filed in December 2012 with the court, in that he told a Georgia judge that his monthly income is $62,500 but his expenses are $360,000! Mortgages and debt owed to various creditors comprise of almost $ 125k of that $360k. Iverson also admitted to the judge that his current spending involves $10,000 a month on restaurants/entertainment, $10,000 a month on clothes and an additional $10,000 on groceries. That’s a lot of spending by a guy who has filed for bankruptcy, is flat out broke and his net worth is – 1 MILLION USD.

 NOT A FAIRYTALE ENDING

Iverson realizing that his NBA career was close to over signed for a Turkish Basketball league team Besiktas in 2010. He signed a two year contract with them, which gave him a $ 4 Million net income for those two years. Iverson officially announced his retirement from professional basketball on October 30, 2013.

In August 2013, Iverson’s former wife Tawanna demanded $ 1.2 Million from him for child support. When he couldn’t pay he was dragged to court by his wife. According to court documents cited by TMZ, he said that he doesn’t have enough money for the child support. While Iverson was one of the most decorated players of his generation, he certainly didn’t do a good job saving money from his career.

Sadly enough, Iverson’s post-NBA career has been filled with controversies and stories of divorce, financial ruin, and alcohol abuse. Certainly not an ending a decorated sports star should deserve.

The beautiful country of Spain most famously known as a tourist hub is not exactly what you would call, a sporting powerhouse. The Spanish football team did bring the country to spotlight when they won the 2008 Euro Football Championship. After that the football team went on to win the 2010 FIFA world Cup and the Euro Football Championship again in 2012. If that wasn’t enough, the Spanish football team was awarded the Team of the Year award in Laureus World Sports Awards. But much before the Spanish Football team could put its stamp on the sporting world there was one Spaniard who was doing his part very efficiently. His name is RAFAEL NADAL.

Rafael “Rafa” Nadal Parera, simply known as Rafael Nadal certainly needs no introduction. Known for his aggressive style of play and strong forehand shots, with a stocky and well built muscular body he certainly is a towering figure in the world of tennis. Born on 3 June 1986 in Manacor, Spain he currently holds the No.1 position in World ATP singles ranking. Widely regarded by many as the single greatest tennis player of all time Rafael Nadal has won 13 Grand Slam singles titles, the 2008 Olympic gold medal in singles, a record 26 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 and a record 14 ATP World Tour 500 tournaments. In 2010, he became the seventh player in history and youngest of four in the Open Era to achieve the Career Grand Slam. Nadal also holds the record for being one of the only two players in history who have won at least two Grand Slam titles on three different surfaces—hard court, grass, and clay.
