Tom Hanks is  an American Actor who is very famous for acting in the novel inspired movie ‘The Da Vinci Code(2006)’.His real name is Thomas Jeffrey Hanks,but he is best known by name ‘Tom Hanks’. He was born on July 9th 1956 in Concord,California. His father Amos Mefford and mother Janet Marylyn. Besides being an actor he is also a writer, producer, and director.

 Tom was not so popular in his school days, but he showed interest in participating in plays and watching dramas in theaters. Hanks studied theater at ChabotCollege in Hayward, California. He even started working as an intern at Great Lakes Theater festival where his 3 years work experience covered most aspects of theater production, lighting, set design and stage management. Later he married actress Rita Wilson in 1988. They have two children Chester Marlon and Truman Theodore. And he also has two grand children who are born to his first son Colin Hanks.

He achieved Space Foundation award for creating public awareness of space programs .hanks was also inducted as honorary member of the United State Army Rangers for his realistic portrayal as Captain in the movie Saving Private Ryan . Tom Hanks also donated money in social organizations, such as HIV-AIDS organization. The asteroid 12818 Tom Hanks is named after him.
