Jadakiss is an American rapper from New York. He is a member of the famous rap group ‘The LOX’. He appeared in several video’s of Puff Daddy’s songs during the late nineties. Eminem mentioned him as one of the greatest rappers alive in the song ‘Till I collapse’. He owns the D-block records. He released an album named ‘The Last Kiss’ in 2009. His new album is all set to release in 2014.

EARLY LIFE AND MUSIC CAREER

Jadakiss was born on 27 May 1975 in Yonkers, New York, United States of America. He became interested in rapping at a very young age and by the age of 16 became an avid freestyler. Jadakiss was noted for his amazing free styling ability. Jadakiss formed the group ‘The Warlocks’ in 1994 along with friends Styles P and Sheek Lounch. The group changed its name to ‘The LOX’ (Living of experience) and was signed to Bad Bay label. Jadakiss developed a very strong bond with the legendary rapper ‘The Notorious B.I.G.’ The group’s first hit song was- ‘We will always miss Big Poppa’. In 1998, The LOX released its first album, ‘Money, Power and Respect’. The album received an universal acclaim and was a mainstream success. However, after the album got released Jadakiss decided to leave Bad Boy label. He though the approach of Puff Daddy was pretty radio friendly. In 2001, Jadakiss released his solo album named ‘Kiss the game goodbye’. The album featured many guests such as Snoop Dogg, The Alchemist, DJ Premier, and DMX. It received bad reviews from the critics. Many critics called the album ‘Uninspired’. Jadakiss agreed to the claims and said that he did the album out of contractual agreements. His next album was called ‘Kiss of Death’. It was released in 2004 and released a critical acclaim. It did a very good mainstream business as well; Much successful and dope than its predecessor. Jadakiss then signed to Jay’s Roc-a-fella record company. Jay Z wanted to collaborate with Jadakiss for a long time. He released an album named ‘The last kiss’. It was quite successful receiving good reviews from the critics and selling good numbers. He then decided to collaborate again with the Ruff Ryders records. He featured on 2 DJ Khalil tracks in 2011. He even featured on the tracks ‘Welcome to the hood’. He even released a mix-tape named Consignment in between. In 2013, Jadakiss announced his next album ‘Top five, Dead or Alive’. He released a track to the album featuring The Dream. The album will feature many artists such as The Lox, Young Jeezy, Wiz Khalifa, Chris Brown, and Lil Wayne. Jadakiss is one of Eminem’s favorite rappers. Eminem acknowledged Jada’s skills in the song ‘Till I collapse’.

Earl Simmons was born on December 18, 1970 and is better known by his stage names DMX and Dark Man X. He is an American rapper and actor by profession. In 1999, DMX released his best-selling album And Then There Was X, which featured the hit single “Party Up (Up in Here)”. He has acted in films such as Belly, Romeo Must Die, Exit Wounds, Cradle to the Grave, and Last Hour. He has also starred in the reality television series called DMX: Soul of a Man, which was aired on the BET cable television network. In 2003, he published a book of his memoirs titled, E.A.R.L.: the Autobiography of DMX. He has sold over 30 million records, making him one of the best-selling hip-hop artists of all time. He was married to Tashera Simmons in 1999 and they were married for eleven years. DMX is the father of twelve children out of which a couple of them have been proved to be the children due to his extra marital affairs. In July 2010, Tashera announced their separation.

Career:

DMX began his music career in 1988 as a beat boxer. His stage name was tribute to an instrument he used in the 1980s, the Oberheim DMX drum machine and later was interpreted as “Dark Man X”. Here are some of his works in ascending chronological order:

1. In February 1998, DMX released his debut major-label single, “Get at Me Dog”, on Def Jam Recordings. The single was certified Gold by the RIAA. His first major-label album, It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot, which included the single “Ruff Ryder’s Anthem”, was released in May 1998. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart in the U.S and sold over five million copies.
2. DMX released his third and best-selling album …And Then There was X, on December 21, 1999. It was his third album to debut at number one on the Billboard 200. Its most popular single, “Party Up”, became his first Top Ten hit on the R&B charts.
3.  Released on October 23, 2001 was his fourth album The Great Depression. Despite the album’s triple Platinum certification, its commercial and critical success was lower than his previous album.
4. His fifth album, Grand Champ, once again debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 charts, placing DMX as the only musical artist in history to release five consecutive albums that debuted at number one.

Legal Cases and Worth:

As mentioned earlier, DMX’s has had multiple arrests for offenses including: animal cruelty,reckless driving, unlicensed driving, drug possession and identity falsification. Here are the major ones:

• DMX was tried for rape, sexual abuse, and unlawful imprisonment. These cases were dismissed when the DNA evidence did not match his DNA.
• DMX joined rappers Jay-Z, Method Man, and Redman for Jay-Z’s 1999 Hard Knock Life tour, during which he was arrested for charges of a stabbing at a tour stop in Boston, Massachusetts.
• DMX and his wife were arrested in 1999 after his uncle was accidentally shot at a hotel in New Jersey, charged with animal cruelty and possession of crack cocaine and weapons.
• DMX served a 15-day jail sentence in 2000 for possession of marijuana.
• Following a concert in Buffalo, New York in March 2000, DMX was arrested from a vehicle on New York State Route 33 in Cheektowaga, New York. He was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, failure to signal, driving without a license, failure to notify the DMV of an address change, and possession of marijuana.
• DMX was arrested in June 2004, at the John F. Kennedy International Airport, on charges of cocaine possession, criminal impersonation, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal mischief, menacing, and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, while claiming to be a federal agent and attempting to carjack a vehicle.
• DMX plead guilty to charges of drug possession, theft, and animal cruelty, at a hearing on December 30, 2008; he was sentenced to ninety days in jail on January 31, 2009.
• DMX was arrested on August 20, 2013 in Greer, South Carolina during a traffic stop after a car he was a passenger in made an improper u-turn. He was arrested due to an outstanding warrant for driving under suspension.
• DMX was again arrested on November 4, 2013 by the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport police near Greer, South Carolina after police, who were familiar with his prior arrests, noticed DMX behind the wheel of a vehicle at the terminal.

In late July 2013, DMX filed for bankruptcy in a Manhattan court. In his filing, DMX claims to have roughly $50,000 in assets and somewhere between $1 million and $10 million worth of debt to various creditors. His debts include $1.24 million in child support. DMX’s attorney released a statement that explained his debts have restricted the rapper from obtaining a passport for many years. DMX hopes to be able to restructure his debts so he can begin performing overseas again, where he still has an active fan base but it seems that he has a long way to go.

Recently, he was in news after the controversial celebrity boxing match between him and George Zimmerman was cancelled because the Fight promoter Damon Feldman was being constantly threatened and there was a widespread public backlash against him.

DMX once quoted,”Do dirt, get dirt. So I treat people with the same respect that I want.”

This statement of his doesn’t seem to be justified by his acts. He has had a long very long list of criminal records. A person having a celebrity status should never ever get involved in such heinous activities because there are a lot of people out there who idolize them, follow each and every action of them. Activities like these would also be imitated by the people because they would think they it would be too cool on their part to break traffic rules or get involved in a crime because their favorite star does it. So, the celebrities should be extra cautious in every iota of their activities because they are accountable for each and every bit of them to their fans. It is because of the fans that a celebrity is made and people follow somebody because they have certain trust on them and the celebrity should never break that trust. So, on behalf of all DMX fans out there we wish that he is able to restructure his debts as soon as possible and the restriction on his passport is also removed so that we can witness more of his oversees performances and sometimes hope to witness him live in India too!!
