NEXT QUESTION: WHERE WILL I GET THIS PIZZA?

At your own house. Shocked? Yes, you read it correct, again. The pizza is made in your own house. Once you order for the Louis XIII, the chef comes to your house with all the ingredients and bakes it for you. You can expect at least this service when you are spending that amount of money. All you need is a house in Italy because this service is only available for houses in Italy.

WHAT IS SO SPECIAL ABOUT THIS PIZZA?

Apart from being the most expensive pizza which is baked at your demand, in your own house, Louis XIII boasts of having the most exotic toppings from all over the world. The main ingredients of this pizza are:

• Mozarella di bufala: the cheese is made out of milk collected from domestic Italian buffaloes. It is a snowy-white mozzarella with a slightly sour flavor. It has a soft, moist and somewhat granular flavor.
• Lobster: specially imported from Norway and Cilento (Italy).
• Caviar: three types of caviar with prices ranging from USD 2500- 5500 per pound.
• Squilla Mantis: a Mediterranean species of Shrimp.
• Pink salt: to add to the flavor, the pizza is dusted with pink Australian salt collected by hand from the Murray river.

These are just the main ingredients of the pizza. There is a lot more. It has 7 other types of cheese to begin with. The pizza-base is as special, preparation for which starts 72 hours before the actual baking. The dough is allowed to rise for the 72 hours.

All these cooked, topped and decorated in 8 inches, concentrates the flavours. The fact that all these ingredients come from various places all over the world and the amount of effort which goes into making each pizza, makes the Louis XIII so special.

WHO THOUGHT OF SUCH A CRAZY IDEA?

This question obviously arises. Who would think of collecting a Lobster from Norway, Caviar from three different countries, Shrimp from Mediterranean and salt all the way from Australia just to sprinkle a bit on the Pizza? Louis XIII is the creation of Chef Renato Viola of Salerno, Italy. For the preparation of this pizza, three of Renato’s chefs come over to your house. These are not just some random chefs, they are three specialists. One is a pizza-maker (to make the pizza), second is a Sommelier (a wine-specialist) and the third one is a separate chef (to cook all the ingredients before putting it on the pizza). This is one professional task!

FINALLY, WHAT ALL COMES GRATIS WITH IT?

When you are spending USD 12,000 on an 8-inch pizza, you would not mind spending a few more bucks for items to go along with it. But hurray! This is a package deal. You get Cognac, wine to go along with the pizza, which is specially chosen and served by the Sommelier.  Also, the pizza is served in a limited edition cutlery. However rich you may be, free stuff always makes you feel good.
