Introduction:

Toby Keith Covel is an American Cowboy who is a best known American singer, songwriter, actor and record artist. He spent the whole 90s as a music star with a considerable increasing success chart. He topped several charts of hit songs and his winning streak shows no decreasing slope. He was gifted a guitar at eight and music became his life thereafter.

He was born on 8 July, 1961 in Clinton, Oklahoma. He is the son of Hubert K. Covel Jr. and Carolyn Joan. He along with his family which consist of one brother named Tracy and sister named Tonni moved near the fields of Oklahoma when he was young. He was moved to Highland West Junior High School where he developed interest in football and joined Fort Smith Boys Club team. He used to visit his grandmother in his vacations and involved in Garner’s Supper Club to learn music. He did various difficult jobs and got linked with the band to perform on stage.

After completing his schooling in 1979 he grew up and started to work at the suburbs of Oklahoma. He put all his effort to become an operational manager. At the same time he formed a band named ‘Easy Money Band’ along with his friends Danny Smith and Scott Webb. They started to perform at local bars and in some nightclubs and in this way it became a side source for collecting money. In 1982, his oil industry began declining and he felt like he is unemployed. But his band and football training became one of the major sources for his survival.

Rags to Riches:

In 1984, Easy Money Band came up with a hit ‘Blue Moon’ and this was splashed over several radio stations in Oklahoma. In 1993, Keith moved to a Houndogs and there he distributed several copies of the tape which belongs to their band. But people there showed no interest and concerns about the records. He was depressed with this response and promised himself that he would leave music if he had no recording contract till 30 years of age. The fate turned and fortunately Keith got a recording contract with Mercury. His records’ executive Harold Shedd heard his demo tape and was influenced with Keith’s performance.

Collaborating himself with Mercury proved to be very fruitful. He gave various hit debut Single such as ‘Should’ve Been a Cowboy’ which topped the Billboard singles chart, ‘A Little Less Talk and a Lot More Action’ and ‘Wish I Didn’t Know Now’ etc.  Keith then joined hands with Polydor Records and released his new album Boomtown in 1994. Then again he moved to Mercury and recorded ‘Dream Walking’ in 1997. In 2002, he released his unleashed album which contain many hit singles and duet including Who’s Your Daddy? , Beer for My Horses etc. In 2004, he came back with the remake of song ‘MockingBird’ along with his daughter Krystal who is an awe inspiring singer. In 2005, he decided to part his ways and established his own label named ‘Showdog Nashville’. ‘White Trash with Money’ and ‘Big Dog Daddy’ was amongst the top releases by Keith. He is well known for the anthems in the Middle East for the U.S soldiers. He went on to many tours along with big music stars such as Trace Adkins.

Keith apart from musician explored several other professions. He began doing various TV advertisements for Ford group by writing and singing songs such as ‘Ford Truck Man’ or ‘Field Trip’. He got more attention when he got involved in a clash with the singer of Dixie Chicks i.e. Natalie Maines. Maines argued on the’ Courtesy of the Red, Blue and White’ saying that it made the music more ignorant. Keith got angry at this comment and replied by cursing her image.
