EARLY LIFE

Officially known as Kathrin Romary Beckinsale. She was born in England and is the alone child of Richard Beckinsale and Judy Loe, who are both actors. Beckinsale made her debut on the small screen when she was only 4 years old, with the episode This is Your Life. The episode was dedicated to her father. Beckinsale lost her father of 31 years old to a heart attack when she was about five years old. This tragic loss really affected her. After this, she started thinking that bad things will happen. After a few years, Judy Loe, her mother, moved in with the director Roy Battersby. Kate Beckinsale shares a pretty close relationship with him. She was brought up along with his four sons and a daughter. Beckinsale has won awards for writing both fiction and poetry. Beckinsale often says that she “loathed being a teenager”.  Her teenage was tough on herB . Beckinsale had anorexia when she was 15 years old and so, she had to undergo Freudian psychoanalysis for a long period of 4 years. Beckinsale has a smart mind! Beckinsale knew she wanted to be an actress ever since she was a kid. This was mainly because of the fact that her parents were both actors and she understood the fun that they had. She made her debut with a small part in Devices and Desires. She appeared in the film One Against The Wind. From then on, Beckinsale has done a lot of movies like Much Ado About Nothing, Prince of Jutland, Hamlet, Marie- Louise Ou La Permission, Cold Comfort Farm, Haunted, Emma, Shooting Fish etc. She also did plays and stage shows. That is how she met Michael Sheen.

Around 1998, Beckinsale started looking for work in the United States of America. This move resulted in her doing movies like The Last Days of Disco, The Golden Bowl, Pearl Harbor, Serendipity, Laurel Canyon, The Underworld Series, Van Helsing, The Aviator and the like.

After this phase, Beckinsale shifted her focus to small scale drama. It included the drama Snow Angels, Winged Creatures, Nothing but the Truth, Everybody’s fine and the like. In the year 2012, Beckinsale again started acting in mainstream cinema with movies like Contraband, Reykjavik-Rotterdam, Total Recall and her new movies like The Trials of Cate McCall, Eliza Graves, The Face of An Angel, Absolutely Anything.
