Anne Jacqueline Hathaway, the American actress is one of the most prominent faces in Hollywood. With several films and stage role, she has marked a very strong place for her among her other contemporaries. A winner of several prestigious awards, this girl appeared on the list of 50 Most Beautiful people by the People magazine in 2006. And we all know she deserves to be there!

Anne Hathaway was born in Brooklyn, New York to father Gerald Thomas Hathaway who is a lawyer and mother Kathleen Ann who was an actress. Being raised as a Roman Catholic she was imparted with really strong values. During graduating from Millburn High School, she participated in many school plays and also won an award for her performances. She also studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She was the first teenager to be admitted to the Barrow Group Theatre Company’s acting program.

Hathaway performed as a soprano in 1998 and 1999 and has performed in plays at the Seton Hall Preparatory School in New Jersey. Three days after her 1999 performance, she was cats in the Fox television series Get Real at the age of 16.

Anne Hathaway’s debut with the motion pictures was back in 2001 in the drama film, The Other Side of Heaven. Even before the production of this film, she was cast in the lead role of The Princess Diaries, where she auditioned for the role and won it over 500 girls. This film became a major success earning $165 million worldwide and her performance was particularly praised. She later voiced for the audio book releases of The Princess Diaries. For the next three years, Hathaway continued to appear in ‘family’ films and became a kid’s role model. She even dropped out of The Phantom of the Opera for the dates clashed with Princess Diaries 2.

In 2005, Hathaway starred in the film Havoc, where she portrayed the role of a spoiled socialite and went on to do some nude scenes. After Havoc, she was cast opposite Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal in the very famous Brokeback Mountain. This film opened to rave reviews and went on to win several Academy Award nominations.

Next year, she appeared in the comedy film The Devil Wears Prada alongside the ever charming, awesomely talented and brilliant Meryl Streep. In 2007, she was cast in Knocked Out but unfortunately she dropped out. Later that year, she starred in the drama Becoming Jane, where she played the role of the English author Jane Austen.

In 2008, she premiered the drama Passengers and later Rachel Getting Married, the latter being premiered at the Toronto and Venice Film Festivals. She earned wide critical acclaim for her performance.

Next, she appeared in the comedy Bride Wars in 2009 and provided her voice for many episodes of The Simpsons, which won her an Emmy Award in 2010 for outstanding voice over performance. She was invited to join the Academy of motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

In 2010, she played the White Queen in the adaptation of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and also in Through The Looking Glass alongside Johnny Depp. Along with Denzel Washington, she hosted the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Norway in December, 2010. In the same year, she was also voted as one of the sexiest stars of 2010 by Entertainment Weekly.

In 2011, Hathaway again lent her voice for the character of Jewel in the animated film Rio. She also starred in the romance One Day alongside Jim Sturgess.

Her next big success was in the late 2012, where she played the role of the sly, morally ambiguous cat burglar in The Dark Knight Rises, the final film in the Batman trilogy. The role was the most physically challenging role she has ever played. She had had an extensive training in martial arts. The film became the third highest grossing film of 2012. Hathaway won the Saturn Award for the Best Supporting Actress for her performance.
