He is the son of Elaenor, who had a master’s degree in psychology and Wilson Schmidt, who was a German-American professor of international economics at Virginia Tech and Johns Hopkins University. Though he was born in Washington but he was grew up in Blacksburg, Virginia. Talking about his education life, he was graduated from Yorktown High Scholl in Arlington, Virginia in the year 1972. After that he attended the Princeton University as an architecture major but later switched to B.S. degree in electrical engineering in the year 1976. I the year 1979, he earned a M.S. degree from University of California, Berkley for designing and implementing a network linking the campus computer center with the Cs and EECs departments. Not only is this, he also earned Ph.D. degree in the year 1982 in EECS about the problems of managing distributed software development and tools for solving the bugs of the softwares. He also worked as the teacher in Stanford Graduate School of Business in the 2000s on strategic management subject. Eric joined the Sun microsystems in the year 1983 as a software engineer and later became the chairman of Novell in the year 1997. In the year 2001 he became he became the CEO of Google. In the year 2007, PC World ranked him as a first on 50 most important people on the Web. On August 28, 2006 he was elected to Apple Inc’s board of directors. He was the campaign advisor and major donor to Barack Obama and served on Google’s government relations team.
