Early Life
French Montana was born in Rabat, Morocco in 1984 as Karim Kharbouch. He spent 13 years of his life outside Casablanca at a family estate. His parents are Moroccan but his mother seems to have some Somali ancestry as well. While growing up, he devoted all his time to playing football and rapping and he still calls them as his favorite childhood hobbies. He left Morocco at the age of 13 along with his mother; father Abdela and brother Zack to move to South Bronx in New York City. He then joined Bronx high schools of Roosevelt and Lehman. This is where he picked up English apart from the streets. His father then returned to Casablanca after spending two years in the New York City. His youngest brother was born in the USA after the departure of his father. His mother lived on welfare and he was the only source of income for the family.
Making of a Rapper
Born and raised in Morocco, French Montana along with his family moved to New York City in 1996. His first mix tape was released in 2002 titled “Cocaine city”. He later moved on to release DVDs of his performances and other artistes’ interviews, which apparently he sold on the streets. In 2011 His career took a turn for better when he was signed by Interscope and Bad Boy records. He later worked with Bad Boy Records and Maybach music Group. Rick Ross, Max B, Charlie Rock. Flip and Cheeze are some of the other artists that French Montana has worked with.
Personal Life
French Montana is multilingual and some of the languages he speaks include English, French and Arabic. He was once shot in the head in between 2003 to 2004 while coming out of a recording studio in New York. He was immediately rushed to the hospital and he survived.
French Montana tied the knot with Deen Kharbouch in 2007. In 2009, they had a son and named him Kruz. The couple got divorced in 2012 but French Montana still maintains that being a father is one of the best experiences in life. He is known to be in an on and off relationship with rapper Trina who is signed to his record label- Coke Boys.
Accumulating Wealth
French Montana released his first mix tape in 2002 which he named “Cocaine City”. Although, while recording this mix tape he also collaborated with Cokeboy Los who happens to be close friend of French Montana. He also released DVDs of his performances and also mixed them with interviews from other artists too. His first releases include interviews from artists such as Pee Wee Kirkland and Remy Ma. An interesting fact is that the primary aim of these DVDs was just to garner more publicity. They in fact turned to be the top selling ‘street DVDs’. The sales of these DVD from 2002- 2010 have made a substantial donation to his net worth. French Montana’s career became rather intense when he signed record deals with Bad Boy Records and Interscope Records in 2011. He soon established his own record label and very soon joined forces with Bad boy Records and Maybach Music Group which again added to his financial success and net worth.
Musical Ventures
Though his dreams were crushed when his debut album with Akon was delayed for three years but nothing could crush French Montana spirit. He generated $3 million from Bad Boy Records and Maybach Records from 2011 to 2012. However the album failed to create much hype.
His debut record “Excuse my French” was expected to cross the 500,000 copy mark by the end of fourth quarter of 2013 but it too couldn’t make the cut. His joint venture with Bad Boy and Maybach spent $1.2 million on featured artist, production, promotion and distribution. Unfortunately French Montana is supposed to pay all that money back but with low sales of the album it seems quite unlikely.

The American rapper seems to be a fan of speed as can be seen from his car collection. He owns a white Cadillac Escalade, one Maserti GranTurismo and a white Rolls Royce Ghost.
