Kevin Ferguson was famously known as ‘Kimbo Slice’. He was born on February 8, 1974 in Nassau, a place in Bahamas. He is basically a Bahamian born American boxer, mixed martial artist and also an occasional actor. He is a heavyweight boxing champion weighing 234 lb(around 106 kg) and became famous for the street fights which were very soon spread across the internet and he became famous a ‘The King of the Web Brawlers’. In 2007, he signed a professional contract with EliteXC and because of this, left the underground fighting. Slice lost his first fight which he competed against the series winner of ‘The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights’, Roy Nelson but in the UFC finale, slice defeated Houston Alexander and with that became a professional boxer.
Early Life
Kimbo Slice was born in Bahamas but as a child only, soon moved to the United States, where he grew up in Cutler Ridge, Florida. Along with his two brothers, he was raised by his mother Rosemary Clarke. He first went to Bel-Air Elementary School where he was involved in his first fight, just at the age of 13 as he was trying to defend a friend. After his Elementary studies, he attended Cutler Ridge Middle School and then continued with Miami Palmetto High School. But in the year 1992, his house in Florida was destroyed by Hurricane Andrew, so he was forced to live in his 987 Nissan Pathfinder for a month or so.
He attended University of Miami and Bethune-Cookman University, where he also studied criminal justice and also received an athletic scholarship. Slice also had a tryout with Miami Dolphins in the year 1997 but he was unable to get a place in the first team.
Early Career
In his early career, he started working in a strip club as a bouncer. He worked as a bouncer until he was offered a job as limousine driver and bodyguard for RK Netmedia, famously known as ‘Reality Kings’, it was a Miami based pornography promotion and production company and it was subscripted a number of popular adult websites. This company still has a close relation with Kimbo and also accompany him under the name ‘Team Kimbo’.
He was also charged in the year 2002 for carrying a concealed weapon and in 2003, he started his career in unsanctioned street fights. These street fights were distributed through the adult websites widely, mainly through YouTube. His fans only named his last name as ‘Slice’, as in his first fight against a man, called Big D, he left a large cut on his opponent’s right eye, so his internet fans named him as ‘Slice’ after his childhood name ‘kimbo’.
His only loss in street fight was against a former Boston police officer, Sean Gannon.
Mixed martial arts career
Slice started his martial arts training in the year 2005 at the Freestyle Fighting Academy under the trainers David Avellan and Marcos Avellan. In beginning he was trained only for street boxing and he focused only on bare knuckle techniques and also dirty boxing from the clinch, soon he developed interest for MMA. Slice made his debut for MMA against Ray Mercer, a former WBO Heavyweight champion and Olympic gold medallist on June 23, 2007 in Atlantic city. Slice was later trained by Bas Rutten, a retired MMA fighter for other sanctioned MMA fights and also by Randy Khatami, a boxing instructor. Slice defeated Ray Mercer in the first round with a guillotine choke at 1:12. Later in the year 2008, on February 16, in the main event at EliteXC: Street Certified, Kimbo fought against Tank Abbott and won by KO 43 seconds in the first round only.
Boxing Career
On August 13 2011, he made his pro boxing debut. He fought against James Wade in Miami, Oklahoma at the Buffalo Run Casino. He won the fight in the first round at 0:10 only.
In the same year, Kimbo returned on October 15 in the arena defeating Tay Bledsoe in the first round only. Later, he defeated Charles Hackmann by winning three rounds out of four on December 30.
Professional Wrestling
He made his debut on February 5 in the year 2011, against Shinichi Suzukawa, a former Sumo wrestler at the Inoki Genome Federation’ event in Japan. But soon he pulled out from the match as he was injured during practice.

Kimbo slice is currently living with his family in Florida and is taking care of his six children: three boys and three girls. Current report says that he is engaged to Antoinette Ray, his long-time girlfriend.
