Carl Icahn was born on 16 February 1936 in Queens, New York City, New York, US. His ethnicity is Jewish. According to Forbes, he is a very rich personality of the era. His mother was a school teacher. In the year 1957, he was graduated from Princeton University and received Bachelor of Arts Degree in philosophy and after that joined the New York University School of Medicine. Later he joined army dropping out from college. Talking about his personal life, he has been married twice. In the year 1979, he married Liba Trejbal who was a Czech ballerina from the former Czechoslovakia who got divorced in the year 1999. They had two children together Brett and Michelle. After this, in the year 1999, he married Gail Golden who was his longtime assistant and former broker and has two children from her prior marriage, Shana L. Golden and Christie R. Golden.

In the year 1961, he began his career on Wall Street as a stroke brocker and in the year 1968 he formed his own Icahn & Co. which was a security firm that focused on risk arbitrage and options trading. Later on he started taking control on other companies like RJR Nabisco, TWA Texaco, Phillips Petroleum, Western Union, Gulf & Western, Viacom, Uniroyal, Dan river, Marshall Field’s. American Can, USX, Revlon, Federal-Mogul, Fairmont Hotels, Motorola and many more. In the year 1985, Carl developed a reputation as a ruthless corporate raider after his hostile takeover. In the year 1988, Carl took TWA private and gained a profit of $469 million and leave it later with a debt of $540 million. Later in the year 1991, he sold TWA’s prized London routes to American Airlines which is worth $445 million. In the year 1987, he was rebuffed by CEO David Roderick. Not only is this, in the year 2004, he purchased a large block of stock of Mylan Laboratories after Mylan announced to acquire King Pharmaceuticals.
