Born on November 7, 1967, Pierre David Guetta, popularly known as David Guetta, is among the most successful of his genre of House, Progressive House, Techno, even emerging in to new types of music. DJing professionally from the age of 17, David Guetta is a genre- busting hit machine, whose fusion of electro and hip hop has beautifully wrapped the pop world. He co founded Gum Productions in 2003 and released his first album, Just A Little More Love, followed by two more super successful albums ‘Guetta Blaster’ and “Pop Life’. Guetta finally achieved mainstream success with his 2009 album One Love. France’s David Guetta is a name that had been voted as #1 DJ in the ‘DG Mag Top 100 DJs’ poll. Till date, he has sold over 6 million records and over 15 million singles. He is credited for producing stars like Kylie Minogue, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna and Madonna.

Born in Tipton, Paris to a restaurateur father of Moroccan Jewish descent and mother of Belgian descent, Guetta’s parents would frown upon his career choice back in the 80s when DJing was not very popular. In the mid 1990s, he would play in clubs including Le Centrale, the Rex, Le Boy and Folies. Released in 1994 was David’s second single Up And Away, in collaboration with Robert Owens and it was a minor hit in the clubs. Later in that year David Guetta became the manager of the night club Le Palace and he continued to organize parties.
After the foundation of Gum Productions, his first album ‘Just A Little More Love’ on Virgin Records sold over 3,00,000 copies. With his second album ‘Guetta Blaster’, he released four singles among which Money and Stay featured Chris Willis, and the rest two, The World Is Mine and In Love With Myself featured DJ Davis.
In 2007, Guetta’s third album ‘Pop Life’ was released. The album was successful in the UK, Ireland and rest of Europe. According to EMI in 2010, the album has sold a total of 5, 30,000 copies worldwide. The lead single Love Is Gone reached number 1 on the American Dance Chart and chartered on the Billboard Hot 100.
In 2009, he was placed third in the Top 100 DJs poll and was elected ‘Best House DJ’ by DJ Awards in 2008. Since April 2009, he had has his own radio show as well on the internet radio show, RauteMusik on Saturday evenings, which was later moved into Radio 538.
David Guetta’s fourth studio album One Love was released in August, 2009. Its first single, When Love Takes Over, featuring Kelly Rowland was placed at #1 on the UK Singles Chart and also many other countries. His second single from the album featuring Akon, became his second number 1 in the UK. His One Love was nominated as the best Electronic/Dance Album at the 52nd Grammy Awards.
On June 16, 2009, The Black Eyed Peas released the Guetta produced album, I Gotta Feeling which became a worldwide hit topping the chart in seventeen countries. It became the most downloaded song of all time in the USA with more than 7.5 million downloads, selling more than 1 million copies.
His fifth studio album Nothing But The Beat was released on 30 august, 2011, as a double disc album. Guetta was inspired by rock bands to add rock influences to his dance productions.

It seems that the otherwise humble star DJ cannot drive anymore. He is a human after all. He was caught speeding on roads of France several times, due to which his driving license has been banned for life. This means he cannot drive again in his life. However, this small glitch cannot create any hindrance in his popularity and his fan following!
The famous French DJ had once said, “My parents were extreme left, so everything was against the system. I was walking barefoot on the streets of Paris when I was eight. When I started to DJ they hated it, because for them, nightclubs, and all of this life, was terrible and fake.”
