 Kevin George Knipfing aka Kevin James, born on April 26, 1965, is basically famous as an American actor and a producer. Not only this, he also earned a great success as a writer, and a comedian. Popular for Doug Heffernan, a character he played in a hit show “The King of Queens”. Further his roles and his acting skills in various films like, Grown Ups, Grown Ups 2, Paul Blart: Mall Cop, Zookeeper, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, and Here Comes the Boom are tremendous.  Further, ‘Dusty Peacock’,a famous web series came in the year 2009 which was produced by James. Nichelodean Kids Awards were also hosted by James in the year 2010.

Early life

James born in Mineola, New York, has a German ancestry. He has two siblings, Gary Valentine, a comedian as well and Leslie Knipfing who works for him. She also helped him to raise the money through various charity events for people suffering from retinitis pigmentosa, a genetic eye condition that also leads to permanent blindness, which she also possesses. James was raised Catholic. Graduated from Ward Melville High School in 1983, where he was on the football and wrestling teams. Further, James was a student at the State University of New York ,but he didn’t graduate from there. He was also a member of Pi Lambda Phi.

James started with his stand-up comedy in 1989, at the East Side Comedy Club in Long Island, New York. Then eventually, he got popular via a number of talk shows, like The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Late Late Show, Live with Regis and Kathie Lee, Late Show with David Letterman, The Rosie O’Donnell Show, Dennis Miller Live and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. He also worked on Just for Laugh’s annual comedy festival held in Montreal and as a musical guest later. He started his own stand-up special, Kevin James: Sweat the Small Stuff in the year 2001.

 

Television

He made his debut on TV through a sports game show SandBlast, as an announcer, till 1996, on the MTV channel. He moved to Los Angeles and he appeared as a guest-star on a few episodes on CBS in Romano’s popular sitcoms.  After these shows, he started his own sitcom, The King of Queens, in which he acted as a middle-class delivery man, who was a worker of a company called IPS and Leah Remini played his wife’s role. He then got a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award for an Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for The King of Queens, for the year 2006. Later, he got a chance to be the grand marshal for saying the line “Gentlemen, start your engines” for NASCAR racing, which got famous in the auto racing in, 2007’s Pepsi 400, then again in 2010, with his buddy Adam Sandler for the promotion of Grown Ups and later in 2012, at the event of fall Talladega race.

James made his film debut in the 2005 romantic comedy, Hitch with Will Smith and Eva Mendes as his co-stars. In 2006, he worked as a voice actor in Monster House and Barnyard, both animated films. James then worked with Adam Sandler in many movies like, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, You Don’t Mess with the Zohan. His movie “Paul Blart: Mall Cop” became the first film in the history of North America who brought a profit of $39 million in a weekend and later grossed $219 million in total. Lately, he acted in Grown Ups with Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider, Chris Rock and David Spade; which was criticized a lot but was huge success on the box office. In 2011, he wrote, produced and even played lead roles in Zookeeper and The Dilemma, with Vince Vaughn. James again wrote produced and played a lead role in Here Comes the Boom which is mixed martial-arts comedy in 2012. In the same year, he gave his voice in another animated movie, Hotel Transylvania. In 2013, he again worked with his grown Ups co-stars in its sequel, Grown Ups 2 and now he is planning on releasing the sequel of Paul Blart: Mall Cop.

 

Personal life

He got married to Steffiana de la Cruz, an actress in 2004 and fathered two daughters Sienna-Marie & Shea Joelle and a son Kannon Valentine. His elder brother, Gary Valentine is also a comedian and acted in King of Queens. James is also a huge sports fan and a supporter of the New York Islanders, New York Knicks, New York Mets and New York Jets. As he is a Catholic, he also made his appearance on a Catholic TV channel EWTN’s World Over.

 

Awards

He got a nomination for Emmy Awards in 2006 for The King of Queens. He also got two nominations in Teen Choice Awards for Hitch. In 2011, he was nominated in the Arm Fart Hall of Fames Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards.
