MEMBERS
HARRY STYLES-
Harry Edward Styles was born on February 1, 1994 in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, England. He attended Holmes Chapel Comphrensive School.Before being the member of One Direction he used to sing with his band Whit Eskimos at Holmes Chapel in Cheshire where he was the lead singer.He participated in seventh season of The X factor in 2010 where he was being eliminated as the solo singer. He suggested the name of the band as ‘One Direction’.
ZAYN MALIK-
Zayn Malik(Zain Javaad Malik) was born on January 12,1993 at Bradford in England to a family of English-Pakistan descent.He grew up in West Bowling and went to Lower Fields Primary School and Tong High School in Bradford. As a teenager he took performing arts courses and appeared in school productions. He auditioned for seventh season of The X factor but was rejected as solo singer. In August 2013, Mali got engaged to Perrier Edwards, a singer with the group Little Mix after dating for about two years. 
LIAM PAYNE-
Liam James Payne was born on August 29, 1993 in Wolver Hampton, England. Payne attended St. Peter’s Collegiate School in Wolverhampton.He was interested in both music and athletics during his teenager. He was a member of the Wolver Hampton & Bilston Athletics Club. Following his graduation from St. Peter’s, he enrolled in the City of Wolver Hampton College to study music technology.He auditioned for The X factor in 2008 when he was just 14 but couldn’t make it so he auditioned again in 2010 and was later eliminated as a solo singer.
NIALL HORAN-
Niall James Horan was born on September 13,1993 in Mullingar, County Westmeath, Ireland.He attended St. Kenny National School, where he performed in school plays and sang in the school choir. He attended secondary school at Coláiste Mhuire (Mary’s College), also in Mullingar. As a teenager he performed at the Mullingar Arts Centre and at The Academy in Dublin.He auditioned for The X factor in 2010 . He moved up through several rounds of preliminary auditions but was eliminated as a solo singer after semifinals. 
LOUIS TOMLINSON-
Louis William Tomlinson was born on December 24,1991 in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England.He is a song-writer,singer,actor and football player. In Doncaster, Tomlinson attended The Hayfield School; when he failed to graduate, he completed his studies at Hall Cross Academy. At Hall Cross he performed in several school productions, including the musical Grease. Outside school, he worked part-time jobs in retail and at the Doncaster Rovers Football Club.He auditioned for The X factor in 2009 but was turned down.He again auditioned in seventh season of The X factor in 2010 but was eliminated as a solo singer before the final round.
CHRONOLOGY OF ONE DIRECTION
In 2010.all of them auditioned for The X factor in 2010 and were rejected as solo singers but later on the suggestion of Simon Cowell and Nicole Scherzinger the five formed the band together named by Harry Styles as ‘One Direction’ at Wembley Arena in London. Subsequently, the group got together for two weeks to get to know each other and to practice. One Direction finished in third place and immediately after the final, their song “Forever Young”, which would have been released if they had won The X Factor, was leaked onto the internet. Shortly afterwards it was confirmed that One Direction had been signed by Cowell. 
In 2011,their debut album Up All Night was released in United Kingdom and was later released worldwide in 2012.At the end of the year they started their first UK concert tour ‘Up All Night’ tour which of huge success. In 2012, One Direction’s second studio album, Take Me Home, was released in November. Up All Night and Take Me Home were the number three and number four best-selling albums of 2012 globally, each album selling over 5 million units worldwide.One Direction performed “Little Things” at the 2012 Royal Variety Performance in the presence of Queen Elizabeth II. They performed “What Makes You Beautiful” at the 2012 Summer Olympics closing ceremony in London. 
In 2013, One Direction embarked on their second concert tour in February 2013, the Take Me Home Tour.They performed 134 shows in the tour.One Direction: This Is Us, a 3D documentary and concert movie about the group directed by Morgan Spurlock and produced by Simon Cowell, was released on 30 August 2013. Midnight Memories was released globally on 25 November 2013. In 2014,One Direction are expected to go for their first stadium tour, the Where We Are Tour, which is set to commence in April.

One Direction has won two BRIT Awards—winning their first with “What Makes You Beautiful” for Best British Single at the 2012 BRIT Awards, three NME awards, two Kids’ Choice Awards, and four MTV Video Music Awards. One Direction won all nine awards they were nominated for at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards.One Direction also won two American Music Awards out of their two nominations.

In 2011, the band performed on the Children in Need 2011 broadcast.In 2012 they extended involvement with Children in Need and performed Live While We’re Young. In September 2012, Niall Horan organized an event to raise money for Irish Autism Action and another charity called and Temporary Emergency Accommodation Mullingar based in Mullingar. In February 2013, One Direction released “One Way or Another (Teenage Kicks)”, as the 2013 Comic Relief single. As part of their involvement with the UK charity, One Direction traveled to Ghana to volunteer at a children’s hospital, visit a school and make donations. In 2013, band members Liam Payne and Harry Styles partnered with Trekstock, a leading cancer charity in order to help raise money for cancer research. One Direction were named the most charitable in 2013 behind Taylor Swift by social change organization DoSomething.org.
