Orlando Bloom is known all over the world for his role in The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, where he played the role of Will Turner. His looks have made all the ladies swoon! CHILDHOOD
Orlando was born in 1977, in Canterbury, Kent, England. He attended King’s School Canterbury and St. Edmund’s School in Canterbury. He suffers from dyslexia. His mother encouraged him to pursue his love for the dramatic arts. It was also a more promising option and dyslexia is really challenging and the dramatic arts kept Bloom busy all day, and the progress made him feel happy and useful. Bloom began his professional acting career with small roles in the episodes of Casualty and Midsomer Murders, and later on, made his debut into the big screen movie industry with the movie Wilde, opposite Stephan Fry. Later, he enrolled in the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, situated in London. He studied acting there.
CAREER
Bloom has been a slow bloomer. He first appeared on the silver screen in a small role in the movie Wilde. As a matter of fact, within two days of graduating from Guildhall in 1999, he bagged the role of Legolas for the movie The Lord of the Rings, which is a legacy in itself. In 2002, he was chosen as one of the Teen People “25 Hottest Stars Under 25″ and was named People’s hottest Hollywood bachelor in the magazine’s 2004 list.
After the success of The Lord of the Rings, Bloom had the honor of working with Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley for The Pirates of the Caribbean series. He also acted in movies like Troy, Kingdom of Heaven and Elizabethantown.
PERSONAL LIFE
Bloom has always been a ladies man! He had a slightly unstable relationship with Kate Bosworth, from 2002 to 2006, after which they cordially split. In late 2007, Bloom announced that he had begun dating Australian Model, Miranda Kerr. The beautiful couple surprised everyone with their announcement stating that they were engaged and were married the month following this announcement, in 2010. Kerr gave birth to their son, Flynn Bloom in January 2011. However, in 2013, the couple announced that they had been separated for months with the intention of getting a divorce.
In 2008, Bloom had participated in a test drive in Moscow celebrating the 60th anniversary of Land Rover. In 2009, Bloom was seen participating actively in support of the victims of the Australian bushfires. In 2009, Bloom was named a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. He has been involved in the organization since 2007 and has visited schools and villages in Nepal in support of sanitation and education programmes.
In 2010, Bloom was presented with an Honorary Degree from the University of Kent at Canterbury Cathedral.

INTERESTS
Bloom loves bikes! He is an animal lover and even rescued a dog and later, adopted him. He named the dog Sidi and this happened while shooting for Kingdom of Heaven. In 2004, Bloom was made a member of the Buddhist association that followed the teachings of Nichiren.
Bloom has a tattoo of the Elvish word “nine” on his right wrist, written in the fictional Tengwar Elvish script, a referring to the role he played in the movie The Lord of the Rings.
