“I never decide if an idea is good or bad until I try it. So much of what gets in the way of things being good is thinking that we know. And the more that we can remove any baggage we’re carrying with us, and just be in the moment, use our ears, and pay attention to what’s happening, and just listen to the inner voice that directs us, the better.”

“My taste changes radically all the time, and I listen to whatever feels good. Another thing is that I’m in the studio so much of the time, and I listen to so much loud, aggressive music for work, that for pleasure, I’ll listen to something else.”

“Everything happens kind of the way it’s supposed to happen, and we just watch it unfold. And you can’t control it. Looking back, you can’t say, ‘I should’ve… ‘ You didn’t, and had you, the outcome would have been different.”

“Everything I do, whether it’s producing or signing an artist, always starts with the songs. When I’m listening, I’m looking for a balance that you could see in anything. Whether it’s a great painting or a building or a sunset.”

“I’m just trying to make my favorite music. That’s how I work; I just do things based on the way they feel to me. I want to be touched by the music I’m making. Luckily, other people have shared that response to my work over the years.”

FAMOUS QUOTES BY XZIBIT

“Well, because everybody was calling themselves MC This and MC That. Everybody had an MC before their name and it was also like Ice Cube and Ice-T. I wanted something totally different and original so I used a battle where I was real loud and animated and motherfuckers would tell me you should be Xzibit because it’s like you on display. So I started calling myself Xzibit.”

“The acting is something that I have to work at, something that I have to rehearse, something that I have to practice but the music comes naturally to me. So I would say that the music is the catalyst that makes everything else work and that’s pretty much just very clear and straightforward for me.”

“It was just a timing thing you know certain rappers had conflicts at the time you know and it came down to everybody being able to come to the table and had to be in a timely manner because that’s what the label wanted but those are my niggas and I wish it would happen and I’ll never say never.”

“Actually, I met some producers first. There was Broadway – James Broadway – and Madcap was another group that they were producing at the time. And through them I met King T, and through King T I met the Alkoholiks. And that’s when I got inducted into the Alkoholiks Hall of Fame.”

“That was the first one. You know, actually that was the remix to “G Thang.” Dr. Dre showed me that we could make two records off of one record. It was the “G Thang” remix, right?”

” He took certain pieces of music off of it and only kept the bass line, a key part and he kept the drums off of the “G Thang” remix. And then after he took of that other music, he kept those parts and said we are going to make a whole new record and he made a whole new record. Yep. That’s a “G Thang” remix and Dr. Dre took the music off of it. He kept a string part and he kept the keyboard part, he kept the drums and the bass line.”

“That’s another record that I went crazy. My main thing on “Puffin’ On Blunts,” though, is that I wanted to be known as one of the greatest MCs on the planet and I wanted to impress Dr. Dre. That was the inspiration behind “Puffin’ Blunts.” Definitely! Totally! You know what I’m saying? That’s basically what it was. I just wanted to destroy it. I always wanted to impress Dr. Dre and just express my skills.”

“It wasn’t even going after New York. It wasn’t a diss record. It really wasn’t. “New York, New York” was a record that we made in dedication to New York. We really felt that New York created hip-hop. New York created battle rap and the whole ball of wax so what I did was a battle rap on this beat DJ Pooh did.”

“That beat originally, DJ Pooh made it for Biggie Smalls for a St. Ides commercial. He made the beat and really I picked the beat and I was like, “Man, I love that beat. I want that.” Then he did a St. Ides commercial with Biggie Smalls and I heard it on the radio.”

Famous Quotes by Snoop Dogg

It’s hard to say goodbye to the streets. It’s all how you do it. You can pass by and say, ‘What’s happening?’ and keep it moving, but it’s a certain element that’ll never be able to roll with you once you get to this level, because that’s the separation of it all.

What people don’t understand is joining a gang ain’t bad, it’s cool, and it’s fine! When you in the hood, joining a gang it’s cool because all your friends are in the gang, all your family’s in the gang. We’re not just killing people every night; we’re just hanging out, having a good time.

I was like the class clown in school so I guess I would say I did like the attention. In church I did a lot of plays, my mother made me play characters, do a lot of drama and acting, trying to become someone else. So it helped me create who I am, to create Snoop Dogg.

Rakim is a legendary Rapper from the Golden age hip hop days. His real name is William Michael Griffin Jr. He is one half of the famous Golden age Hip Hop Duo, Eric B. & Rakim. He is often regarded as one of the most gifted MCs of all time. His album, Paid in full, was regarded as the best Hip-Hop album by MTV in 2006. He was ranked number 4 on the MTV’s list of the greatest MCs of all time. Steve Huey of Allmusic said that, “Rakim is near-universally acknowledged as one of the greatest MCs — perhaps the greatest — of all time within the hip-hop community.” The source magazine named him #1 on their list of the Best lyricists of all time. He is the nephew of the famous R&B singer, Ruth Brown. He indulged in the Hip-Hop scene at the age of 18. He was earlier known as Kid Wizard. He converted to Islam at the age of sixteen and adopted the name, Rakim Allah. Rakim met Eric B. and they first recorded the single named , ” Eric B. IS PRESIDENT”. The single was heard by the owner of Island records and they were instantly signed.

Music Career

Rakim and Eric B.

In 1987, the Duo released their first album, Paid in full, and it went on to become one of the most influential hip hop album of all time. “Eric B. Is President”, “I Ain’t No Joke”, “I Know You Got Soul”, “Move the Crowd”, and “Paid in Full” were a few popular singles from the album. Follow the Leader was the second album by Eric B. & Rakim and was released July 25, 1988. The album achieved a moderate Success and sold more than five hundred thousand copies. It was declared gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. s ‘Microphone Fiend,’ ‘Lyrics of Fury,’ and ‘No Competition.’ were the famous tracks of the album. Let the Rhythm Hit ’Em was the third album released by Eric B. & Rakim and was released in 1990. It was lyrically more coherent than the previous albums by the duo. It received rave reviews from the critics for it’s dense lyrics. Don’t Sweat the Technique was the last album declared by the legendary Duo in 1992. It was a minor hit. The duo separated because of legal and personal troubles thereafter.

As a solo artist Rakim released albums such as 1997 ‘The 18th Letter’, 1999 The Master, 2008 The Archive: Live, Lost & Found, and 2009 The Seventh Seal. Rakim’s solo effort was critically accepted. He worked with Dr. Dre as well for a while but they separated because of creative differences. About his album The Seventh Seal, Rakim once said, he number 7 has a lot of significance. The seventh letter of the [Supreme] alphabet is G—that stands for God. There are seven continents, seven seas. The Seventh Seal deals with that and also some revelations in the Bible. Some call it the end of the world, but for me it’s the end of the old and the beginning of the new. By me naming my album that, I’m using it metaphorically in hip hop. I’m hoping to kill the old state of hip hop and start with the new.” He also appeared on Eminem’s 8 mile soundtrack. He once said, “The seals are from the Bible—Revelations and the coming of the Apocalypse. But Islam, Judaism, Christianity—all have a version of the same events. The Lion of Judah breaks the seven seals one by one, each imparting knowledge and inflicting catastrophe, ending with seven trumpets announcing the end of Times. After the Apocalypse, God rises from the ashes to recreate the Kingdom, taking only the greatest elements from the past with them. When you look at Hip-Hop, I want to do that: to spit fire and take our best from the ashes to build our kingdom; to recognize all the regional styles, conscious lyrics, the tracks, underground, mainstream, the way we treat each other. Lose the garbage and rebuild our scene. I’ve always tried to insert consciousness and spirituality in my records, interpreting the writings of all cultures and religions and how they apply to life in modern times.”

Rapping Technique

One of the most influential rappers of all time!

Rakim was known for his laid back, relaxed yet powerful lyrics. He has been cited as an inspiration by many rappers such as Eminem, Tupac, Nas, Kool G. Rap, Jay-Z, Biggie and Kendrick Lamar. His velvet smooth flow, internally complex rhymes and powerful lyrics make him one of the best rappers of all time. Rakim’s subject matter usually included, own rapping skills and Islamic faith.

Famous quotes by Rakim

Ra

“To be truthful, being that the game has changed so much, you come hoping for the best and expecting the worst. To my surprise, there’s a lot of love out here for me.”

“What was once easy became confused and hard, which brings us back to the mystic question, who is God?”

“I’ll take seven emcees, put ‘em in a line. Add seven more brothers who think they can rhyme. It’ll take seven more before I go for my, and that’s 21 emcees ate up at the same time.”

On ‘ Metacritic’ the album received an average score of 91 which signifies an universal acclaim. Allmusic director David Jefferies wrote of the album, “ Besides all the great ideas and life, this journey through the concrete jungle of Compton is worth taking because of the artistic richness, plus the attraction of a whip-smart rapper flying high during his rookie season. Any hesitation about the horror of it all is quickly wiped away by Kendrick’s mix of true talk, open heart, open mind, and extended hand. Add it all up and subtract the hype, and this one is still potent enough to rise to the top of the pile”. ’The accuracy of its intimate autobiographical details is irrelevant—what matters is that this album helps you feel the internal struggles of a good kid who may not be good enough as he risks derailing his life by succumbing to the kneejerk loyalty, petty criminality, and gang warfare of the hood he calls home. Nobody is heroic here, including Lamar—from Christian strivers to default sociopaths, all the players are confused, weary, bored, ill-informed’, said Robert Christgau.

Net worth: $ 125 million

50 cent

50 cent is an American rapper, actor, investor and entrepreneur. With a net worth of $ 125 million, he is one of the richest figure in Hip Hop. He is also the front-man of the New York based Hip Hop group ‘G-unit’. 50 cent has sold more than 30 million albums world wide and has won numerous awards including a Grammy. His real name is Curtis Jackson III.

Early life

Jackson was born on July 6, 1975 in South Jamaica. His mother, Sabrina, was 15 year old when he was born. Jackson was raised solely by his mother. When he was 8 years old his mother passed away. He then lived with his Grand parents. At the age of 12, Jackson started selling drugs in the streets. He was accustomed with guns and drugs by the age of sixteen. He once got caught in school when they used Metal Detectors. Although Jackson admitted that he never used the drugs he used to sell. Jackson adopted the nickname 50 cent for a change. The name was inspired by a Brooklyn Robber, Kelvin Martin.

Rapping career

50 cent

The 21-year old Jackson started rapping in a friend’s basement. He was soon introduced to Jam master Hay( Run-DMC fame). Jay taught Jackson to write rhymes, count bars and make verses sound better. Jackson released his first unofficial album, Shut em’ down. It was not a commercial hit though 50 cent did receive some underground attention. As a result, Nas took him on his tours. He was supposed to record videos for the album but Jackson got shot 9 times 3 days before. He was severely injured and it was a miracle for him to recover. He was back from the hospital in 15 days and recovered fully within a period of 5 months. Jackson recalls the incidence, “It happens so fast that you don’t even get a chance to shoot back…. I was scared the whole time…. I was looking in the rear-view mirror like, ‘Oh @#!*% , somebody shot me in the face! It burns, burns, burns. After I got shot nine times at close range and didn’t die, I started to think that I must have a purpose in life… How much more damage could that shell have done? Give me an inch in this direction or that one, and I’m gone”.

After fully recovering, Jackson released a mix tape named Guess who’s back?. Eminem through a source got hold of the CD and invited Jackson to fly to Los Angeles. Dr. Dre and Eminem, highly impressed by 50 cent, decided to sign him to a $ 1 million dollar deal. 50 cent’s subsequent album Get rich or Die tryin‘ was declared 8 times platinum. It sold 872,000 copies in the first four days. 50 cent launched his own G-unit records shortly after that.

His subsequent project, The Massacre, was a successful venture as well selling 1.14 Million copies. Rolling stone cited to 50 cent, “50′s secret weapon is his singing voice - the deceptively amateur-sounding tenor croon that he deploys on almost every chorus”. In 2007 Cutis was released which sold about 691,000 units in the first week. 50 cent has been a prominent figure in Hip Hop since 2003.

Business ventures

50′s Mansion!

Jackson has ventured into various businesses and is a shrewd entrepreneur. In 2003, he launched the G-unit sneakers in collaboration with Reebok. Jackson has also founded two film producing companies, G-unit films and Cheetah vision. Jackson recently shifted his business efforts to Philanthropy. He launched an energy drink called Street king. A large portion from its sale will go to charity. He also founded a company named SMS audio and it sells headphones. He lives in the former house of ace boxer Mike Tyson.

Awards and Accolades

The rap god. The lyrical genius. The king of Hip hop. Eminem is now a synonym to the word rap. He has garnered abundance of fame and treasure since The Slim Shady LP was released in 1999. He’s suffered numerous hardships in life to attain the pinnacle of success. He is absolutely an outcome of suffering and hard-work. He is the largest selling Artist of the decade. Also, He’s the largest selling Hip hop artist of all time with 32 million copies sold. The 41 year old Artist’s Business interests are limited to music. He doesn’t perform in as many concerts as other rappers do. His music is strong enough to make an impact and earn him abundance amount of wealth.

EARLY LIFE

Young Eminem

Eminem’s real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers III. He is the only child of Marshall Bruce Mathers Jr. and Deborah R. “Debbie” Nelson. His father left the family when he was 18 months old. His mom took care of him after that. They had to change places quite often because of his mother’s meager earnings. Marshall had to change schools very often. He was a small white kid in a town where mostly black people lived. He was heavily bullied in the school and once a bully knocked him so hard that he was in comma for 9 days. In his teenage days, he got hold of a few albums from LL cool J and Rakim. He was widely intrigued with Hip-Hop and started learning the songs right away. He used to stay up all night practicing his rhymes and raps. He met his future wife Kimberley Scott when he was 15. They soon began dating. Marshall then formed a rap duo with one of his friend and called himself MnM( Marshall n Mathers) which soon morphed into Eminem. He used to actively perform in whatever opportunities he got. He even took part in underground Battles even though he was white and unaccepted. In his youth days he worked as a factory labor to meet basic ends. He had a bitter relationship with his mother because of her drug addiction and paranoid behavior. Her fist daughter, Halie jade scott mathers, was born in 1995. He faced many hardships as a father because of his meager earnings. He, though, continued working on his raps and constantly improving his skills. He was signed to a small music label in 1996 and released his first album ‘ Infinite’. The album failed to leave an impact and did a minuscule business. Fed up with so many hardships, Marshall made an unsuccessful suicide attempt in 1997. With all these frustrations Eminem created an angry and sadistic alter-ego, Slim Shady, and used him in his songs. He launched his second project The Slim Shady EP in 1997. The EP featured constant references to drug use, sexual acts, mental instability, and over-the-top violence. The album didn’t do a very good business though it managed to give Eminem some underground attention. He then enrolled in the 1999 Rap Olympics where he stood 2nd. A guy out there liked him and asked for a C.D. of the EP. That guy took the C.D. to Dr. Dre and the esteemed rap producer was overly-impressed with Eminem’s skills. He called him over and they recorded Eminem’s first hit single, ‘ My name is’.

TREASURE GARNERED

Eminem’s home

Since the release of Eminem’s first major-label album, The slim shady LP, he became an overnight sensation. His successive album The Marshall Mathers LP was the fastest selling solo album of all time. Later, The Eminem Show was released which was another Blockbuster. This wicked white boy ridiculed celebrities and openly rapped about drugs and alcohol. He was the most controversial celebrity that time. Hip Hop was a black men’s game until Eminem arrived. Here are a few achievements of Eminem-

Awards

Eminem has won 11 Grammy Awards, 10 MTV Europe Music Awards, 12 MTV Video Music Awards, 2 MTV Movie Awards, 7 American Music Awards, 1 Academy Award( the only rapper to win an Oscar).

Eminem and Elton John

Eminem was accused of being a Homophobic man because of his controversial lyrics in the songs Stan and Criminal. Though he cleared out the buzz when he surprisingly performed with Sir Elton John in the Grammy Awards. It is still one of the most memorable Grammy moments.

Net Worth : $ 35 million

Career/Profession : Disc Jockey, Music Producer

Age : 46

“I don’t do this for money, I don’t do it for record sales. I don’t really care about that. I just want to make beats”

                                                                                                                                                                              -David Guetta

Claim to Fame

Born in Tipton, Paris to a restaurateur father of Moroccan Jewish descent and mother of Belgian descent, Guetta’s parents would frown upon his career choice back in the 80s when DJing was not very popular. In the mid 1990s, he would play in clubs including Le Centrale, the Rex, Le Boy and Folies. Released in 1994 was David’s second single Up And Away, in collaboration with Robert Owens and it was a minor hit in the clubs. Later in that year David Guetta became the manager of the night club Le Palace and he continued to organize parties.

After the foundation of Gum Productions, his first album ‘Just A Little More Love’ on Virgin Records sold over 3,00,000 copies. With his second album ‘Guetta Blaster’, he released four singles among which Money and Stay featured Chris Willis, and the rest two, The World Is Mine and In Love With Myself featured DJ Davis.

David Guetta’s fourth studio album One Love was released in August, 2009. Its first single, When Love Takes Over, featuring Kelly Rowland was placed at #1 on the UK Singles Chart and also many other countries. His second single from the album featuring Akon, became his second number 1 in the UK. His One Love was nominated as the best Electronic/Dance Album at the 52nd Grammy Awards.

On June 16, 2009, The Black Eyed Peas released the Guetta produced album, I Gotta Feeling which became a worldwide hit topping the chart in seventeen countries. It became the most downloaded song of all time in the USA with more than 7.5 million downloads, selling more than 1 million copies.

His fifth studio album Nothing But The Beat was released on 30 august, 2011, as a double disc album. Guetta was inspired by rock bands to add rock influences to his dance productions.

What I have? Check it out!

Okay, now enough of his achievements. Let’s have a sneak peek into what this ever humble, down to earth DJ has in his kitty.

1. Christian Louboutin Alfie Flat Sneaker

Ah! A Christian Louboutin! After the success of his hit single, Without You, he was spotted signing autographs for his fans and sporting a pair of Christian Louboutin Alfie Flat Sneakers in brown pony print. Nice, isn’t it?

2. Christian Louboutin Louis Sneakers

Another pair of Christian Louboutin. This leather sportswear is hand stitched at the top decorated with studs. They have leather lining, padded insole and rubber sole in signature red which makes them look like a million dollar.

3. Nialaya Jewellery

He is a big fan of Nialaya jewellery and has often been seen wearing Nialaya bracelets in several shows. It is a famous jewellery brand founded by designer Jannik Olander and the men’s bracelets are available in different colours and stones.

4. Monster Beats by Dr. Dre Studio Headphones

This is a popular headphone created by musician Dr. Dre. Beats had launched a new headphone model, in association with David Guetta, for disc spinners and were designed exclusively for DJs.

Naughty Boy!

It seems that the otherwise humble star DJ cannot drive anymore. He is a human after all. He was caught speeding on roads of France several times, due to which his driving license has been banned for life. This means he cannot drive again in his life. However, this small glitch cannot create any hindrance in his popularity and his fan following!

The famous French DJ had once said, “My parents were extreme left, so everything was against the system. I was walking barefoot on the streets of Paris when I was eight. When I started to DJ they hated it, because for them, nightclubs, and all of this life, was terrible and fake.”

We are glad that he listened to his heart and pursued his dreams!
