His mother’s name is Teji Bachchan; she was from a place in Pakistan called Faisalabad, she was very much interested in theatre arts.  His name Amitabh was suggested by his father’s friend and Sumitranandan Pant. He truly makes up to his name which means”the light that never die”. The name was supposed to be Amitabh Shrivastava but his father adopted the surname “Bachchan”. He has done more than 150 films. Amitabh Bachchan on 3^rd June 1973 got married to a beautiful lady Jaya Bachchan. He has two beautiful children Abhishek Bachchan, Shweta Nanda. Shweta Nanda is married to Nikhil Nanda who is a son of industrialist Rajesh Nanda. Abhishek is married to Miss universe and actress Aishwarya Rai. This couple has an adorable daughter Aradhya Bachchan.

Every weekend this house is surrounded by his huge fan following for his single look. Earlier he used to reside with his family at “Prateeksha” but later on he shifted. Mr Amitabh Bachchan has a big list of awards and achievements. He has got many national and international awards. He is working in since 70’s and has worked in countless films. He has won many Filmfare awards and many Screen Awards but if we talk about the recent ones the list is too big.

• In the year 2006, he was nominated for the Filmfare Award as the Best Actor for his performance in “Sarkar” and as “The Best Supporting Actor” for “Bunty and Babli”. He got the IIFA Award, Zee Cine Award as the “Best Actor” for his hilarious performance in “Black”.
• In the year 2007, he got the Screen Award for his performance in “Cheeni Kum” as the Best Actor. In the same year he was awarded by the government of France as the “Legion of Honour” for his contribution in Indian Cinema.
• In the year 2009, he was awarded as by the “Life Time Achievement Award” at MAMI. He was awarded by the Stardust Awards as the Best Actor for his performance in “The Last Lear”.
• In the year 2010 he did a wonderful film “Paa” for which he was awarded for the “Best Actor” by the National Film Award, Filmfare Award, IIFA Awards, Stardust Awards. He also got the “Timeless Icon” Award, “Lines Gold Award” for the same film.
• In the year 2011, he was awarded for with the “Honorary Doctorate” in Australia by one of the very famous University that is “Queensland University of Technology”. The biggest was when he received an award at “Rashtrapati Bhawan” for being the Greatest Living Global Indian. One of the Society Magazine honoured him with “Super Achiever of the Year”.
