In 2009 he led the franchise to victory in Super Bowl XLIV, earning the game’s MVP honors along the way. Brees made a valuable contribution to the New Orleans . He and his wife Brittany founded The Brees Dream Foundation whose aim was to fight for cancer and children in need . The foundation has raised more than $ 6 million for its work.

Brees’ mother died on August 7, 2009 which came to be a turning point in Drees life. The death was ruled to be a suicide which excused from training camp for a family matter. But since he was determined towards his profession as a football player so in April 2010, Brees was voted by fans as the cover athlete of EA Sports Madden NFL 11 video game. On march30, 2010 he became the national spokesperson for Advocare International which was a multilevel marketing company producing weight management, nutritional supplements , etc. Brees wears #9 on his uniform in honor of baseball player Ted Williams.
