Kanye, who was born in Atlanta, raised by his mother, dropped out of college in order to pursue a career in music industry, starting out initially as a producer for Roc-A-Fella records, before signing with Jay-Z.

Kanye West spent four years honing and perfecting what would become his debut album, The College Dropout, which came in at number two on the Billboard 200 and is still Kanye West’s best-selling album in the US to date. Subsequent albums, Late Registration, Graduation and 808s & Heartbreak and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy were also chart-toppers that received critical and commercial success.

West’s debut album,The College Dropout, got him into the Best Rap Album slot at the 2005 Grammy Awards, three MOBO Awards, and Best New Artist at the BET Awards. His second album, Late Registration, earned him seven Grammy nominations, two nominations at the BRIT Awards, and Best Rapper at the Vibe Music Awards.

He has been known to have worked with the best of the industry talents, like Jay-Z, Beyonce, John Legend, Alicia Keys and Janet Jackson.

To start off with his Beverly Hills home, West bought of property for $1.75 million in 2003 and listed it in 2010 for $3,995,000. Soon after purchasing it Kanye stared a makeover of the house by Desiridata Design and it took three long years to renovate. He also owns a mansion in Hollywood Hills, which is estimated to be around $3.9 million, in addition to a magnificent apartment in New York.

Time for charity

His philanthropic ventures include The Kayne West Foundation which benefits education for African American and Latino children, in addition to contributing time, talent and money to Hurricane Katrina relief, World Water Day, and Live Earth, among other organizations. He also funds Doctors Without Borders which is an organization that provides aid to more than 80 countries. The organization is committed to bringing quality medical care to people in crisis regardless of their race, religion, or political affiliation. Kanye West is closely associated with The Art of Elysium, an NGO founded in 1997. The foundation supports the children with serious ailments and encourages the actors, singers and other celebrities to volunteer for the cause by spending some time with these children.

West has had his string of relationships before he found his soul mate. He first dated designer Alexis Phifer, and got engaged in 2006. The pair ended their 18-month engagement in 2008. Later he dated model Amber Rose for a couple of years before they broke-up. Since then he has been in a relationship with reality television star Kim Kardashian. The two have a daughter named North Nori West. The couple got engaged after the birth of the daughter, in October 2013.
