Officially known as Kathrin Romary Beckinsale. She was born in England and is the alone child of Richard Beckinsale and Judy Loe, who are both actors. Beckinsale made her debut on the small screen when she was only 4 years old, with the episode This is Your Life. The episode was dedicated to her father. Beckinsale lost her father of 31 years old to a heart attack when she was about five years old. This tragic loss really affected her. After this, she started thinking that bad things will happen. After a few years, Judy Loe, her mother, moved in with the director Roy Battersby. Kate Beckinsale shares a pretty close relationship with him. She was brought up along with his four sons and a daughter. Beckinsale has won awards for writing both fiction and poetry. Beckinsale often says that she “loathed being a teenager”. Her teenage was tough on herB . Beckinsale had anorexia when she was 15 years old and so, she had to undergo Freudian psychoanalysis for a long period of 4 years. Beckinsale has a smart mind! That is how she met Michael Sheen.
Around 1998, Beckinsale started looking for work in the United States of America. This move resulted in her doing movies like The Last Days of Disco, The Golden Bowl, Pearl Harbor, Serendipity, Laurel Canyon, The Underworld Series, Van Helsing, The Aviator and the like.

She was in a serious relationship with Michael Sheen for around 8 years stretching from 1995 to 2003. They have a daughter together named Lily Mo Sheen, in the year 1999. For Beckinsale, it was love at first sight. The man never proposed but to her, the relationship felt like marriage. When this relationship ended in the year 2003, she was involved with the movie Underworld. During the filming time, Beckinsale and Len Wiseman, the director, got involved in a relationship.
