Mase is a an American rapper. He was born on 27 August 1977. He was born in  Jacksonvill, Florida. He was introduced by Puff Daddy in the year 1996. He featured on the album, Life after Death, of the legendary ‘The Notorious B.I.G. He featured on the track- ‘Mo’ Money Mo’ Problems’. It was the biggest hit of the album. After Biggie’s death, Mase was the prime face of Bad Boy Records. He is known for his laid back and slow rapping flow. His real name is Mason Durell Betha.

Early Life

Mase was born in Florida and moved to New York at the age of 5. Mase was a point guard for the Basketball team of his high-school. In 1993, he started performing as ‘Murder Mase’ in a rap group called- Children of the Corn. Mase was then introduced to the famous Hip-Hop producer, Puff Daddy.

Mase released his first solo album, Harlem World, in 1997. The album debuted at #1 on the billboard Pop and R&B charts. It sold about 2,70,000 copies in its first week. It received rave reviews from the critics and was nominated for a Grammy award. ‘Feel so good’, ‘What you want’, and ‘Lookin’ at me’. It featured many artists such as Jay Z and Puff Daddy. The album has been certified 4X by the RIIA and has sold more than 3.3 Million copies. ‘Feel so good’ was ranked at 67 in the list of the 100 greatest hip hop songs by VH1. Mase released his second album in 1999. It was called- Double up. Double Up sold about 1,07,000 copies in its first week. It debuted at #11 on the Billboard charts and attained a #5 position later. The content of this album was more aggressive than the former. Later, Mase declared in a radio station that he would retiring rom rap music. He said it was a call from God. After a five year break from music, Mase returned with an album named, Welcome Back. The album sold 1,88,000 copies in its first week and debuted at #4 on the billboard charts. It was given a gold status by the RIIA selling 5,59,000 copies. Since, 2009 Mase has been appearing in many singles. He toured alongwith 50 Cents, G-Unit. But they soon parted ways because of creative differences. He featured on a track alongside Drake. Mase said that Michael Jackson’s death has ignited a fire in him and wants a pursue a music career soon. He featured in many tracks and mix tapes after that. Also, he’s been in talks with Diddy to launch a new album under the Bad Boy records. In December 2012, Mase announce that he would be releasing a new-album named, Now we even. The album would include guest appearances by Drake, Jay Z, 2 Chainz, Diddy, Beyoncé Knowles, fabulous, and Ceelo green, Dipset and Meek Mill. Mase has been married to Twyla Betha and he leads an international ministry as a pastor. Known for his slow floe, Mase is one of the most brilliant MCs in the game.  He established his career at the age of 19 and ever since had a successful rap career.
