William Ray Norwood Jr. A.K.A Ray.J is American singer, song writer, record producer, actor and rapper. This multi talented artist has an estimated net worth of over $18million. He was born in McComb, Mississippi in the family of music lovers with music running in his blood. His older sister Brandy is a platinum recording artist and his cousin Snoop Lion a.k.a snoop dogg is a well-known rapper, singer-song writer and actor who has sold over 30million albums worldwide.

 

Early life and career

Early in his life, he moved with his family from Mississippi to Los Angeles, California, and at the age of 8, Ray J began to pursue his dream in the entertainment industry.  He auditioned for several TV commercials and actually appeared in “the sindbad show” as the foster son in 1989 at a very young age of 8. This period shaped his acting career, his easygoing image and boyish looks favored him in landing a role on the “UPN” series as D-Money a role that he played from 1999 until the show was called off in 2001.

His music career began to shape in 1995 after he signed to Elektra Records and he also began to record his debut album “everything you want” the same year. Ray J recorded “Another day in paradise” with his sister Brandy which was a success benchmark for him. it peaked in top ten charts in Austria, UK, Germany, Sweden, Ireland, Norway, Netherlands and peaked at number 11 in Australia and France. The song was the lead single of the R&B/Hip Hop tribute Urban Renewal, in which he co-produced and performed songs. He also worked with The Neptunes, Rodney Jerkins and Lil’ Kim, and several other producers and singers for his second studio album “This Ain’t a Game”. The album was released in 2001. The lead single “Wait A Minute” peaked at number 30 on the U.S. Hot 100 chart and Number 8 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. “Formal Invite” followed at number54 on the R&B chart. In 2009, Ray J starred in his own VH1 reality dating show, “For the Love of Ray J”. The show premiered in 2009 and for his show he also released the studio album called “For the Love of Ray J”. In 2010, Ray J and his sister singer sister Brandy premiered the VH1 reality series “Brandy and Ray J: A Family Business” along with their parents. The show debuted in 2010 and telecasted the backstage happenings of siblings, while taking a bigger role in their family’s management and production company, R&B Productions. Apart from this Ray J appeared in many singles like “one wish” (2005), “what I Need”(2005), his latest single “I Hit it first” (2013) to name a few which added to Ray J’s bank account. His Bank balance grew even further by his appearance in many films such  as “Mars Attacks”, “steel”, “A day in the life”  and TV series such as “Moesha”, “Wild and Out”, “black sash”, and ongoing series such as  ”The Rickey smiley show” and ” Bad girls All-Star battle” which continues to shot up his bank balance. This handsome multi talented artist charge over $500000 to appear on TV and Films and over $10000 for professional interview for radio. Knockout Entertainment is his multi-million $ vanity label, founded in 2004. The label specializes in R&B, hip hop, and gospel. In Ray J’s book “Death of the Cheating Man: What Every Women Must Know about Men Who Stray the modern-day lethario” allegedly admitted to bedding over 1,000 women. Ray J reportedly engaged to model Mia Milano. The beauty made headlines after sharing photos of her engagement ring from the singer on Instagram. The young lad caused controversy when he was spotted on a romantic stroll with “Baywatch” babe Pamela Anderson. While Bobby Brown was living with Karrine Steffans, he reportedly received a message from Ray J saying “Tell Bobby I f—ed both of his chicks, you and his wife,”. In 2011 Ray J was reportedly dating “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Danielle Staub. Photographers caught the pair kissing in a nightclub. In 2007, a pornographic home video which he made with former girlfriend Kim Kardashian in 2003 was made public. Kardashian sued Vivid Entertainment for ownership of the tape. Later in 2007, Kardashian dropped the suit and settled with Vivid Entertainment for $5 million. He also dated Lil Kim in 2007.Monica Danger Leone was of course a contestant on Ray’s “For The Love of Ray J” program but the two dated and the starlet later got pregnant with Nick cannon’s brother’s child. In 2009, Joanna “Cocktail” Hernandez dated Ray J after winning his “For the Love of Ray J” program. The relationship, of course, did not last.
