Tom Arnold was born to Linda Key and Jack Arnold on March 6th, 1959 in Ottumwa, Iowa. He has six brothers and sisters. They were raised by their father as his mother left him when he was a child. To support his father, he started working in meatpacking plants. But later on he was dismissed from that job. Arnold attended and completed his schooling from Ottumwa High School. He further pursued his studies in business administration from Indian Hills Community College and worked upon his writing skills in the University of Iowa.

Arnold after completing his graduation started performing in nightclubs in the Midwest. In 1980s, he came into contact with Roseanne Barr. They both became friends and they both planned to move to Los Angeles and she offered Tom to work as a writing staff in her eponymous sitcom Roseanne in 1988. In 1980, Tom engaged himself in a comedy routine based on prop ‘Tom Arnold and The Goldfish Review’. He gave himself a role of ‘Arnie Thomas’ in her sitcom.

Arnold after attaining fame and popularity through Barr’s sitcom desired to establish his own sitcom. Arnold released his own sitcom The Jackie Thomas Show and starred as a lead role in it. This show lasted for only 18 episodes. In 1993, Roseanne Barr and Tom Arnold both appeared in the movie ‘The Woman Who Lived Elvis’. This movie was featured in his own native place Ottumwa.

In 1994, Arnold career took a boost with his appearance in True Lies. This role gave him a bang start in the Industry. It was directed by James Cameron. He performed as a sidekick to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s and Jaime Lee Curtis. He then got the opportunity to support Schwarzenegger’s bid in the California governorship. Arnold married to his fellow friend Roseanne Barr in 1990. This couple was very popular and always remained on the top headlines of the magazine. But their relationship got complicated because of his alcohol and drug addiction. They both decided to separate in 1994. He got divorced with the girl without taking any alimony. After that he got married to two more women Julie Champnella and then Shelby Roos but these relationships too were short term. During the Thanksgiving weekend he got married to Ashley Groussman in front of family members and friends. During their honeymoon, he appeared on night talk show Asia Uncut. This couple together had one son, Jax Copeland Arnold.

In 1993, Barr and Arnold bought an apartment in Ottumwa. There they both opened a restaurant in Eldon, Iowa. The restaurant had loosemeat sandwiches as a specialty in its menu. But after their divorce the restaurant was closed in 1995. The amount they had in their account was about $20, 00, 000 which included a share of Roseanne ABC-TV series.
