NET WORTH: $2.8 billion
THE FACEBOOK GUY
We are all Facebook fans and thanks to Eduardo Saverin, one of the co- founder besides Mark Zuckerberg, Chris Huges and Dustin Moskovitz of the most famous and widely used social networking site, Facebook. Eduardo is a Brazilian internet entrepreneur. He belongs to Brazil and has seen wealth and richness since his childhood. The famous investor likes to maintain the image of a notorious and party loving person. His close friends say there is no office where you can find Eduardo, if you want to do business with him be his friend. He is among the richest young people in the world and if he still had the 30% share in the company he would have been among the top 10 richest people in the world.
PERSONAL LIFE
Eduardo was born in a rich wealthy Jewish family in Sao Paulo. His father was a rich and successful industrialist who used to work in clothing, real estate, shipping and export. Later in 1993 the family moved to United Stated when they learned that Eduardo’s name was on the list of the potential victims of kidnapping and started living in Miami. He has done his early education from Gulliver Preparatory School in Miami. He has done his graduation from Harvard University. Harvard Investment Association made him the president and he was also the member of Phoenix S.K. Club. He has been immortalized as Mark’s best friend in The Social Network, a movie released in the year 2010. His relationship with Mark and the subsequent fallout from the company has been made famous through this company.
LADDER TO BECOMING THE BILLIONAIRE
While his days at the Harvard University, Eduardo met Mark Zuckerberg and they both decided to make a social networking site for the Harvard students as it lacked one. He made an investment of $1000 for the start-up of their work. They both started working to develop such a networking site and in the year 2004, they launched The Facebook. Mark decided to drop out of the University so that he can move to California but, Eduardo stayed behind to complete his studies. Initially Saverin had one third share in Facebook which later decreased to 30 % when the other founders joined in and eventually reduced to 10 percent.
HIS WEALTH
The Facebook co-founder has a net worth which is estimated to be around 2.8 billion US dollars. Surely this social networking site has made many people millionaires and he is the one who has benefited from this site and became a billionaire. He holds around 2 percent of the total shares of the company which is around 53, 133, 60 shares and the net worth of the total shares is in billions. He would have more money if he wouldn’t have sold half of his shares he received from the lawsuit he filled against the company. He has money and he loves to flaunt it. He lives in his pricey 5,000 square feet penthouse on Orchard Road in Singapore. The apartment is located in one of the costliest streets in the world. He likes to spend his life lavishly and he owns a Porsche Bentley. One can see him hanging out in a private club in the Conrad Hotel. He has made investments in online payment services sites like Jumio and Qwiki. He has made an investment of 8 million US dollars in Qwiki and 5 million US dollar investment in Jumio. Apart from the investments in the internet world he has also made investments in a cosmetic company run by Rachel Kum.
CONTROVERSIES
He is in the news as he is trying to save 60 million US dollars taxes by declining his citizenship as an American. Though Eduardo saves himself by saying that he is perceived wrong and he is not trying to save the taxes, it is just his personal choice and it is taken wrong. There are rumors that he will be banned from entering The United States. Facebook sued Eduardo for insisting to keep thirty percent shares in the company. The company also blamed him for interfering with the company’s business. Eduardo countersued the company. Later the case settled down with Eduardo receiving five percent shares out of which he sold half of them. He was also promised a co-founder profile on the Facebook site.
