Pawn Stars is an American television reality series. It is produced by Leftfield Pictures. The Pawn stars serial is shown on the history channel. The series is filmed in Las Vegas, Nevada. The series is actually based on the chronicles of the daily life activities at the World famous Gold & Silver shop. This Gold and Silver Pawn shop is a 24 hour family business which was opened in the year 1989. The family Richard “Old Man” Harrison, his son Rick Harrison, Rick’s son Corey “Big Hoss” Harrison and the Corey’s friend Austin “Chumlee” Russell operate the shop. On July 26, 2009 the show became the no. 2 reality show after Jersey shore and soon it became the highest rated show on the History channel. The breakthrough performance of the artist make it more interesting and the show is famous worldwide.

The show got 7.4 ratings on the IMDb site. Pawn stars show started by Leftfield Pictures by Brent Montgomery and Colby Gaines. They got the idea from a pawn shop located at less than two miles from the Las Vegas. They got this idea during a visit in 2008 in the city. They thought that these shops might give them good story to depict so they chose a family-run shop. This Gold and Silver shop has around 12,000 items to display on July 2011. They used antique and vintage items to show for which they got a lot of appraisals. They use five to six items in each episode and the staff members of the shop used to explain the history of the object. The show depicts the interpersonal conflicts between the staff members- Rick, Old man, Corey and Corey’s childhood friend.

Richard (Rick) Kevin Harrison:
He is the son of the Old Man, Richard and the father of the Big Hoss Corey. He is also the co-founder/co-owner of the Pawn shop. He is also known by his nick name “The spotter” because of his sharp eyes to evaluate the items. Rick co-founded the shop along with his father and is into the business from the age of 13and the father at the age of 23. His favorite area of study is British Navy as he was an avid reader since his childhood.
Richard Benjamin “The Old Man” Harrison:
He is the co-founder of the shop and is the father of Rick and grandfather of Corey. He was born on March 4, 1941. He is known by his nick name “Old Man”. He is passionate about the automobiles and is a 20-year veteran of the U.S Navy.
Corey “Big Hoss” Harrison:
He is a Rick’s son and the Richard’s grandson. He started working at the shop at a very early age i.e. nine. He polishes the jewelry at the store. He is groomed by Rick to become boss one day and is now the manager of the operations of the shop.
Austin “Chumlee” Russell:
He is the Corey’s childhood friend. In the first season of the show he was employed at the store for five years. He generally test the items, load them in the shop and writing the record which customers purchased from the shop. He is referred to as the “village idiot” as he is known to have less intelligence and incompetence. Russell later formed his own company ehich sells the novelty items and the T-shirts. Later he sold that company to Harrison for $5,000 in the year 2010 so that the shop could merchandise properly.

The Pawn series is one of the highest rating show and has attracted millions of audience towards it. It has won various prizes for the story and the amazing performance of the staff members. The National Pawnbrokers Association in the year 2010, awarded Rick Harrison and the other staff members of the shop for bringing the pawn shop a better recognition on the TV and to make a better image. The Clark County Commission on July 17, 2012 declared the day to be “Pawn Stars/Gold and Silver Pawn day”. The “Old Man” donated $1,000 dollars to the Clark County Heritage Museum. There are around 4.7 million viewers all over the World.
Merchandise
History launched the game on Facebook by the name Pawn Stars in the year 2011. Hyperion Books published the autobiography of Rick Harrison On June 2011 named License to Pawn: Deals, Steals, and My Life at the Gold and Silver. The autobiography reveals the life of Rick, his childhood and the troubles before getting into the business of the Pawn. The Redwood Hills Financial Group launched the debit card on October 2011 in the Gold & Silver Pawn shop.
