Aliko Dangote was born on 10 April 1957 in Kano, Nigeria. Talking about his occupation, he is the Chairman and CEO of the Dangote Group. His religion is Islam and was born to a wealthy Muslim family. He was born to Mariya Sanusi Dantata and Mohammed Dangote as his father. He has one brother, Sani Dangote. His Dangote Group is spread in various other places like Benin, Cameroon, togo, Ghana, South Africa and Zambia.

Aliko Dangote was born to a rich Muslim family and since he was young he had his eyes only on business and he said that “I Can remember when I was in primary school, I would go and buy cartons of sweets and I would start selling them just to make money. I was so interested in business, even at that time.” These are the words of Aliko which made him a successful man today. Talking about his education, he studied business at the Al-Azhar University in Caito, Egypt and he start his business at just the age of 21 borrowing a loan from his uncle.

Dangote group was established in the year 1977 and is today a multi-trillion naira conglomerate with a lot of operations. Not only the cement and food processing areas, Dangote Group also dominates the sugar market in Nigeria and is a major sugar supplier in the country. It supplies sugar to various other firms like soft drink companies, breweries and confectioners. They are named as Dangote Sugar Refinery, dangote Cement and Dangote Flour. In the year 2012, he leased an abandoned piece of land at the Apapa port to build his flour company there. The Dangote Group is the largest refinery business in the country and is the manin supplier of sugar. It is reported that, the refinery is the largest in African and third largest in the world which produces approximately. 800,000 tonnes of sugar annually which is really a breakthrough work. Aprt from these sugar refinery, let’s move on to his other units. Dangote group also owns a flour mill which is a major importer of rice, fish, pasta, cement and fertilizer. Not only is this, the Dangote group also exports cotton, cashew nuts, cocoa, sesame seed and ginger to several countries.

Talking about his other ventures, Dangaote has major investments in real estate, banking, transport, textiles and oil and gas. This will be shocking to know that, Dangote group alone employees over 11,000 people and is the largest industrial conglomerate in the whole of West Africa. Dangote group has also entered in various other works and started building 14,000 kilometers of fibre optic cables to supply the whole of Nigeria. Aliko is not untouched by the politics, as every big man is into politics so is he. Aliko played a very important role in funding of Olusegun Obasanjo’s re-election bid in the year 2003. This ste raise his net worth even more as politics always bring money at home. So, he earned N200 million in the campaign. But he also contributed his N200 million to the presidential library which is from his heart to show the support.

In the year 2009, Aliko was honored as the leading provider of employement in the Nigerian construction industry.
