Inspired from bodybuilders like Reg Park, Steve Reeves, and Johnny Weissmuller, His dedication to bodybuilding was so impeccable that once in his initial career he broke into the local gym on weekends, when it was usually closed, so that he could train. Schwarzenegger served in the Austrian Army in 1965 and during his army service, he won the Junior Mr. Europe contest. His hard work bore fruit as a twenty-year old Schwarzenegger became the youngest ever winner of the coveted Mr. Universe title in 1967. He was voted best built man of Europe, which made him famous and in his lines “”The Mr. Universe title was my ticket to America – the land of opportunity, where I could become a star and get rich.”

In 1966 Schwarzenegger got an opportunity to meet his childhood god Reg Park, who also became one of his mentor’s. Becoming Mr UNIVERSE at the age of 20 was definitely not an easy task and his training was always a back breaking. After 1967 Schwarzenegger flew back to Munich, training for four to six hours daily, attending business school and working in a health club .In 1968 he came back to London to once again win Mr. Universe title.

In 1970, at age 23, he captured his first Mr. Olympia title in New York, and would go on to win it for a breath taking record of 7 times. In USA he trained under he trained at Gold’s Gym in Venice, Los Angeles, California, under Joe Weider.

During Arnold’s early years in bodybuilding, he also competed in several Olympic weightlifting and powerlifting contests. Arnold won two weightlifting contests in 1964 and 1965, as well as two powerlifting contests in 1966 and 1968

Arnold entered into Hollywood in 1970’s Hercules in New York, however his accent in the film was so thick that it had to be dubbed. In 1973 Arnold won the golden globe award for the movie Stay Hungry. His acting aura gained attention in the film Pumping Iron, 1977.His big break came in the movie  Conan the Barbarian in 1982, which became an all-time hit.

His iconic role in Terminator 2: Judgment Day, which was the highest-grossing film of 1991, Brought him to the throne of industry form where he then ruled for most of his remaining career. National Association of Theatre Owners named him the “International Star of the Decade” for his bombastic acting.
