Cook was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on March 18, 1972. He was the second son of George F. Cook and Donna Jean. He has five sisters and one elder half- brother named Darryl. He belongs to Roman Catholic Family and his parents were very religious and believed in Catholic traditions. They have an Irish ancestry. Cook grew up in Arlington and completed his studies from Arlington High School. Dane’s elder brother Darryl was his partner and his business manager till 2008. After that he and his family were surprised as they came to know that his brother and his wife cheated on him. Cook started his career by performing at the clubs in 1990. In 1994, he moved to New York for achieving more fame. In 1998, ‘Comedy’s Central Premium Blend’ gave his career a bang start. In 2003, he launched his first album ‘Harmful If Swallowed’ based on comedy and signed a treaty with Comedy Central Record.  In 2005, he came up with his second album named ‘Retaliation’ which topped the Billboard chart. It was a great success for him as it was platinum certified. Later in the following year he acted in ‘Vicious Circle’. In 2012, he starred in the NBC comedy series ‘Next Caller’ but the show was criticized a lot more than appreciation and got cancelled very soon. In the same year, ‘Good Luck Chuck’ was released and became the 2^nd highest earning movie on its opening weekend. Later, he came up with ‘Dan in Real Life’ which was rated 2^nd at the box office. It grossed around $11.8 million in thousands of theatres. In 2008, he performed in ‘My Best Friend’s Girl’ as a supervisor which earned $ 8.2 million in its first weekend. He also tried his hands on animated movies such as ‘Planes’ in 2013.

Criticism:

As cook’s comedy style is very simple and casual. It has a feature of long-form storytelling with repetitive phrases. He used to say that he had inherited this from his parents. But media found him an unfunny character and criticized him by saying that he did not suit to the role. Ron White, another comedian, actor criticized him and said that he lacked in real material and did not perform up to the mark. Nick DiPaolo also agreed with him and accepted that he was not capable of making any scene funny at all. He was rated as one of the Worst Comedians on the radio show Toucher and Rich in Boston. In Michigan Daily also, Elie Zwiebel stated that his act is really boring.
