Dave Chappelle’s full name is David Khari Webber Chappelle. He was born on 24 August 1973 to William David Chappelle and Yvonne Reed. His birth place is Washington DC, USA. After he graduated from Duke Ellington School of Arts in 1991, Dave moved to New York to pursue his career in the field of acting and precisely in comedy. Chappelle was greatly inspired by Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor . He made his first debut when he was 19 years old.

Chappelle was the star and a producer of the Michel Gondry-directed documentary Dave Chappelle’s Block Party, which was held on September 18, 2004 in the Clinton Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn. He brought Yellow Springs residents to Brooklyn at his own expense. Another surprising highlight of the event was the (temporary) reunion of popular 1990s hip-hop group The Fugees.

Chappelle toured several cities in February and March 2006 to promote the film under the name “Block Party All-Stars featuring Dave Chappelle”. The film was released in the U.S. on March 3, 2006. It was successful and had a gross total of $11.7 million on a $3 million budget.

Dave’s both parents were professors. Daves father worked as a statistician before becoming a professor at Antioch College  in Yellow Spring ,Ohio. His mother was a professor at Howard University, Prince George’s Community College, and the University of Maryland, and is also a Unitarian Universalist minister. Chappelle also has a stepmother and a stepbrother.He was very young when his parents got divorced. He had spend most of his time with his mom.

Chappelle was married in the year 2001 to Elaine Mendoza Erfe, who is an Filipino descendent. He has two sons named Sulayman and Ibrahim Chappelle and a daughter named Sonal Chappelle and lives in Yellow Springs. It is a village in Greene country, Ohio, United States. He also owns several houses in Xenia, Ohio. Chappelle converted to Islam in 1998.

After the successful run of the show Comdey central show for two seasons, when the 3rd season was scheduled, Chappelle left the show and went to South Africa. After that he did performance in Los Angeles, went on a tour to Newport and he kept on touring and performing.

After his flight to South Africa, where he stayed with a friend, rumors raged about drug abuse, mental instability and problems with the network. The only one of those things that seemed supported by his behavior were the creative struggles with Comedy Central. Yet in an interview with TIME the comedian refused to blame the show’s producers.

Recently in August 2013  he returned on the stage to celebrate Oddball Comedy and Curiosity Festival which was sponsored by Funny or Die, but he had to walk off the stage  because when he tried to address the audience he was heckled down. Following this he stopped his performance in Chicago also.

Chappelle was nominated for the Primetime Emmy awards in the year 2004 and 2005. Also, he was nominated for Teen Choice awards and Image awards in the year 2004 and 2005.

He won NAMIC Vision Awards in 2004 under the category “Best Comedian Performance” for Chappelle’s show(2003)(TV). He won the NAMIC Vision award again in the year 2005 under the same category for the same show.
