Ice-T is an American actor, rapper and Musician. He is one of the pioneers of Gangster Rap. His real name is Tracy Lauren Marrow. He was born on February 16, 1958 in Newark, New Jersey. His mother died when he was in 3rd grade. He began singing in his teenage years, opening various shows and events. He also served in the United States Army for four years, after completing high school. He began his rapping career in the 1980s.
MUSIC CAREER
He received a government benefit at the age of 17 because of his parent’s death. He had a girlfriend and a daughter that time. He had to join the U.S. army for financial reasons. In his Army Tenure, Ice-T became massively interested in rapping. After leaving the army, Ice-T wanted to keep a distance from gangs and violence. He wanted to become a disc-jockey. After breaking-up with his then girlfriend, Ice-T again started indulging in crimes and robberies. After a car accident, Ice-T decided to drop the criminal activities and fulfill a career in rapping. He won an open mic competition soon after that. It was judged by Kurtis Blow.
He along with the producer, William Strong, released his first single “Cold Wind Madness”. It became an underground success and was played in many radio stations. He released an album named, Rhyme Pays, in 1987. It was produced by DJ evil E and Afrika Islam. It was certified as gold and was very successful. In 1989, he released his second album, the iceberg, and it was huge hit. His third album, Original Gangster, is cited by many as the pioneer album of Gangster Hip Hop. He introduced his first Heavy metal band named, Body count, in 1991. He also won a Grammy award for the Best Rap performance by a Duo or Group. Body count released a very controversial track named, Cop Killer. After splitting amicably with Warner Bros. Records, Ice-T released his fourth album with Priority Records. It was called Home Invasion. It peaked at number 9 on the Billboard. It had many successful tracks like- I ain’t new to this, 99 Problems, Gotta Lotta love. He made an appearance on the track Forbidden by Black Sabbath. He released albums such as Return of the Real and The seventh Deadly sin after that. He returned in 2006 with another album named, Gangsta Rap. It received mixed reviews from most critics. He has fused with many metal bands such as Icepick, Motorhead, Slayer and Six feet under. He made a film, something from nothing: The Art of Rap, featuring many famous rap artists.
VENTURES
In December 27, he announced that he is entering into podcasting and a deal with Paragon collective was confirmed. Ice-T is the first Hip Hop artist to do so. Ice-T has been a part of the 2 parts of the movie, Breakin’. In 1993, he starred in the comedy movie, who’s the man? Ice-T played the role of a drug dealer in the movie. He had a role as a drug dealer in the TV series, New York Undercover. In 1999, he starred in the HBO movie, F-117 stealth fighter. He even acted in the comedy series, Chappell’s show. He voiced Madd Dogg in GTA: San Andreas. He voiced the character of Aaron Griffin in the videogame Gears of War 3.

Ice-T was massively influenced by Writers Iceberg Slim and Scholly D. He also loves heavy rock music of Led Zeppelin, Edgar Winter and Black Sabbath. He has inspired many legendary rappers such as Tupac, Biggie, Eminem and N.W.A. He loved rock music and thus used heavy guitars in his songs. He used samples of many Rick Rubin produced tracks such as Beastie Boys, LL cool J and Run-DMC. He is afan of British singer, Phil Collins.
PERSONAL LIFE
He has a daughter named, LeTesha with his girlfriend. He has been married to the swimsuit model Nicole “Coco Marie” Austin since 2001. They recently gave a party on the eve of their tenth wedding anniversary. They own a condominium in North Bergen, New Jersey. His first daughter gave birth to 2 children recently. He has a son who was born in 1992. His name Ice Tracy Marrow.
