Lee Min-Ho is a famous South Korean actor, singer and model. He became popular with Boys Over Flowers (2009) as Gu Joon Pyo, City Hunter (2011, action Drama) & romantic comedy drama The Heirs (2013). Lee got a nickname “King of Ads”.
Early life and career
Lee Min-Ho was born on June 22, 1987 in Heukseok-dong, Dongjak-gu, Seoul, South Korea. From childhood Min-Ho wanted to be a football (soccer) player but due to an injury he suffered in his elementary school he could not pursue his dream. When he learned about his broken dream he wanted to start his career in modeling and acting. He did this when he was in the second year of his high school. Firstly, he was offered small roles in television dramas. He completed his graduation from Seoul Namseung elem, Banpo mid, Danggok high. Through television drama Secret campus Lee got his first role. Initially he used his stage name as Lee Min but soon changed it back to his original name.
In 2006, the famous and popular actor went a serious car accident in which he was severely injured. Also, he had a minor plastic surgery operation of nose due to the injury caused in accident. After fully recovering, in 2008, Lee appeared in many serials like Get Up and I Am Sam. After this he also appeared in two movies viz. Public Enemy Returns and Our School’s E.T. while working in movies he and Kim Soo-ro became good friends.
With the year 2009 he reached the heights of success by working as Gu joon Pyo, lead role in television drama Boys Over Flowers. The drama was based on the popular Japanese television drama Hana Yori Dango. Interestingly, Lee came to know about him being selected through newspaper. The success of Min-Ho by Boys Over Flowers opened a number of doors. He then appeared in Personal Taste (drama). Then Lee worked in an action drama titled City Hunter. The success of drama City Hunter made Lee famous not only in Korea but also in Asia, most notably in Japan, Philippines and China. In 2012 he appeared in Faith and in 2013 he starred in The Heirs, also known as “The Inheritors”. Besides these Lee also appeared in Mackerel Run (2007). He also released a album in 2103.
Recently in January 2014 he made a history by performing on China’s CCTV’s Lunar New Year gala as he was the first Korean celebrity who performed. The show garnered great attention because of the Lee’s presence. It is also said that performing on New Year gala is considered as an honor among the Chinese artists.
Apart from working in various daily soaps and movies Lee also appeared in a number of commercial advertisements in many countries. These include 12 Plus Shower Cream, Anna Sui for FILA, A Twosome Place, Cantata Coffee etc. Lee worked for around 43 endorsements till date. After working in so many commercials he was chosen as the most attractive male celebrity for cosmetics brands in 2012. Lee was ranked first in a survey “The most attractive male celebrities in TV commercials for cosmetics brands, who make women open their wallets” carried out by The community portal site DC Inside.
Currently he (leading role) is working for a crime based movie Gangnam Blues opposite Kim Rae-won.
Personal Life
Lee has a small sweet family comprising of his mother, father and an older sister, Lee Jun Kyung. he also got a female Mini Pinscher dog named “Choco”. Jun kyung also started working in entertainment field. Awarded about his broken dream Lee still keeps up with the football. His favorite player is Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United is his favorite football club. Lee’s alma mater is Konkuk University from where he majoring in Film and Art. His father is a business man but he doesn’t like publicity. Lee had been in a relationship twice, first in his high school and second in University.
