Leighton Meester was born in Texas in 1986 to parents Constance and Douglas Meester. She has lived most of her life in New York City and Los Angeles. Her mother was in prison, serving time in a federal prison for her role in a drug ring that smuggled marijuana from Jamaica to the USA, when Meester was born. Despite this, Leighton has maintained that her parents provided her with a pretty normal upbringing. She cites her mother as her style icon. She attended Hollywood High School and Beverly Hills High School in LA. Afterwards she transferred to a small private school and graduated a year early.
ACTING CAREER
Meester made her acting debut in 1999, playing a murder victim’s friend. In 2007, Meester became a part of CW’s teen drama series Gossip Girl as Blair Waldorf. This role sealed her position in the industry. As Blair Waldorf, she got a lot of fame and acclaim. This is one role that has given Meester her maximum fan base. The series is based on a book by Cecile Von Ziegesar. As “Queen Bee”, she rose to fame. In real life, she is the opposite of Blair.
Meester also appeared in the horror movie Killer Movie in 2008. In 2011, Meester was cast as Rebecca in the thriller The Roommate. Her performance was praise by the critics.
