Mark Elliot Zuckerberg was born in May 14,1984 in White Plains,New York,U.S. He is the son of dentist Edwinard Zuckerberg and psychiatrist Karen Kempner. He was brought up in Dobbs Ferry,New York. He studied in Ardsley High School where he excelled in classics. Zuckerberg later studied at Phillips Exeter Academy, a preparatory school in New Hampshire where he won prizes in science (math, astronomy and physics) and classical studies. He was a fencing star and captain of the fencing team.
Zuckerberg developed an interest in computers at an early age when he was about 12, he used Atari BASIC to create a messaging program he named “Zucknet”. Together with his friends, he also created computer games just for fun. “I had a bunch of friends who were artists,” he said. “They’d come over, draw stuff, and I’d build a game out of it”. His father taught him Atari BASIC Programming and later hired software developer David Newman to tutor him privately. Newman calls him a “prodigy”, adding that it was “tough to stay ahead of him”. Zuckerberg took a graduate course in the subject at Mercy College near his home while he was still in high school. During Zuckerberg’s high school years, he built a music player called the Synapse Media Player that used machine learning to learn the user’s listening habits.

After graduating from Exeter in 2002, Zuckerberg enrolled at Harvard University. He studied psychology and computer science.By his sophomore year he gained popularity as software developer in campus.In his sophomore year he built a program called CourseMatch, which helped students choose their classes based on the course selections of other users so as to help them with group studies. He also invented Facemash, which compared the pictures of two students on campus and allowed users to vote who was more attractive. The program became wildly popular, but was later shut down by the school administration after it was deemed inappropriate.
On February 4, 2004, Zuckerberg launched “Thefacebook”, originally located at thefacebook.com. Six days after the site launched, three Harvard seniors Cameron Winklevoss, Tyler Winklevoss and Divya Narendra accused Zuckerberg of misleading them into believing that he would help them build a social network called HarvardConnection.com which could be more like a dating website for Harvard students instead he stole their idea to create “Thefacebook”.
Zuckerberg dropped out the college in his sophomore i.e. second year to complete his project “thefacebook”.

Divya Narendra,Tyler Winklevossand Cameron Winklevoss filed the lawsuit against Zuckerberg for stealing their idea of HarvardConnection.com. The agreed settlement was for 1.2 million Facebook shares which were worth $300m at Facebook’s IPO and $ 20 million in cash.
SAVERIN LAWSUIT-
A lawsuit filed by Eduardo Saverin against Facebook and Zuckerberg was settled out of court. Though terms of the settlement were sealed, the company affirmed Saverin’s title as co-founder of Facebook. Saverin signed a non-disclosure contract after the settlement.

On September 22, 2010, Zuckerberg donated $100 million to Newark Public Schools, the public school system of Newark, New Jersey,U.S. He also donated an undisclosed amount to Diaspora, an open-source personal web server that implements a distributed social networking service.
On December 9, 2010, Zuckerberg signed a promise called the “Giving Pledge” along with Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, in which they promised to donate to charity at least half of their wealth over the course of time. On December 19, 2013, Zuckerberg announced a donation of 18 million Facebook shares to the Silicon Valley Community Foundation at the end of the year. On February,2014 The Chronicle of Philanthropy reported that Zuckerberg’s donation was the largest charitable gift on the public record in 2013.
