CHILDHOOD
Brosnan was born in Ireland, in the year 1953, to the proud set of parents Thomas Brosnan and May Brosnan. He is the only child. He had a troubled childhood which was basically because Pierce Brosnan’s father abandoned his family while Brosnan was still an infant. After that, his mother to London, so that she could work as a nurse and support her son. He was mostly brought up by his grandparents, and later on, his uncle and aunt.
In school, Brosnan’s nickname was “Irish”. He took a very brave step dropping out of school at the age of 16. He, initially, wanted to be a commercial painter. He became an actor by accident, one can say! Brosnan was hired for three years by a circus agent, following which, he trained at the Drama Centre London, for a long period of three years.
CAREER
Brosnan graduated from the London Drama Centre in the year 1975. After graduating, he began his career by working as an acting assistant stage manager in a place called York Theatre Royal. It is here that he made his acting debut with the production Wait Until Dark. From this point, his career just took off. Brosnan did a lot of brief roles in a movies too, with movies like The Long Good Friday, and The Mirror Crack’d. Brosnan rose to fame in America while playing a romantic detective in the series Remington Steele. This series got him a lot of fame and after the series, he did movies like The Fourth Protocol, A Cold War and so on.
In the 1990s, Brosnan was offered the legendary role of James Bond. He portrayed the role brilliantly in the movie GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, and Die Another Day(2002). He was announced as the newest (fifth) actor to portray James Bond in the year 1994.
Some other movies of remark that got Brosnon fame, praise and critical appreciation are movies like The Thomas Crown Affair, Laws of Attraction, The Matador, Mamma Mia!, The Big Bazarro, and The Ghost Writer. His next project is titled Survivor, where he will team up with Milla Jovovich and Emma Thompson. The process of filming will be starting in 2014.
Brosnan has won a lot of awards like the Golden Globes, The MTV Movies Awards and the Blockbuster Entertainer Awards.
PERSONAL LIFE
Brosnan married Cassandra Harris in the year 1977 and tied the knot in 1980. The couple had an adorable son named Sean, in th year 1983. During the shooting of the movie Deceivers, in Rajasthan, in the year 1987, Cassandra became seriously ill. It was discovered that she had ovarian cancer. She died at the age of 43, in 1991. Her death really affected Brosnan.
Following this tragedy, Brosnan met Keely Shaye Smith, in 1994. They got married in 2001. The couple has been blessed with two adorable sons.
Coincidentally, Brosnan’s adopted daughter, Harris’ daughter, named Charlotte, died in 2013 of ovarian cancer.
Brosnan is not only a good actor, but also an aware citizen. He has been UNICEF Brand Ambassador for Ireland. He has contributed more than his bit to the society and the environment. He has attended various news conferences to be able to shed some much needed light on the issue of nuclear disarmament. Brosnan also uses his other talents for raising money, for many charities. He is a true philanthropist.
