Queen Elizabeth II is the Queen of United Kingdom. Elizabeth II is the constitutional monarch of 16 sovereign states, known as the member of common wealth of nations. Queen Elizabeth is the current head of  State and Government .She is known as the Governor General.She is interested in running her  countries. She attends the meetings regularly with the people from her governments, but it is they who run the countries. She performs ceremonies for governemnts, gives out honours, visits and supports many charities. Elizabeth was born on April 26^th 1926. Elizabeth was the first child of Prince Albert, Duke of York who was later known as King George VI and his wife Elizabeth, Duchess of York, Who is none other than mother Queen Elizabeth I. So, Elizabeth II is the daughter of Elizabeth I. Queen Elizabeth II has one younger sister named Princess Margaret.

CHILDHOOD LIFE

Princess Elizabeth’s father was the second son of the King George V and Queen Mary. And mother Elizabeth was the youngest daughter of Scottish aristocrat Claude Bowes-Lyon, 14th earl of Strathmore and King Horne. Queen Elizabeth II was born in her maternal grandfather’s London house, 17 Bruton Street, Mayfair. She was baptized by the Anglican Archbishop of York, Cosmo Gordon Long, in the private chapel of BuckinghamPalace on May 29^th.  Elizabeth I was named Elizabeth after her mother, Alexandra after her great grandmother, who is George V’s mother and Mary after her paternal grandmother (Queen Mary). Thus, Elizabeth’s full name is Elizabeth Alexandra Mary.

Elizabeth’s only sister named Princess Margaret, who is 4 years younger than her. As she belongs to the royal family, Elizabeth and her sister both were educated at home under the supervision of her mother and their governess, Marion Crawford. Her education included history, language, literature, and music. Elizabeth loved horse riding and Dogs. During childhood Elizabeth was described as a jolly little girl and fundamentally sensible and well behaved. She was known for her orderliness, attitude and responsibility.

PERSONAL LIFE

At the age of 13 Elizabeth fell in love with Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark. Just before wedding Philip was made as Duke of Edinburgh. Later, Elizabeth got married to Philip on November 20^th 1947 at Westminster Abbey, in London. Elizabeth gave birth to her first child, Prince Charles. Second child, Princess Anne, third Prince Andrew and the last was Prince Edward.

THRONE & CORONATION

In 1952 on Feb 6^th Elizabeth’s father King George VI expired and the throne was given to his daughter Elizabeth. In 1953 Elizabeth was crowned as Queen of Britain, and this is how she became Queen Elizabeth II.

For her Coronation as the Queen of British Empire, a specially designed coronation gown was designed by Norman Hartnell, on her instructions given the gown was embroidered with the floral emblems of Commonwealth countries: English Tudor rose; Scots thistle; Welsh leek; Irish shamrock; Australian wattle; Canadian male leaf; New Zealand silver fern; South Africa protea; Lotus flowers for India and Ceylon; and Pakistan’s wheat, cotton and jute. The Queen witnessed, over her life, the continued transformation of the British Empire into Commonwealth of Nations. She is also the Supreme Governor of the Church of England. Upon her accession since Feb 6^th 1952, Elizabeth became the Head of Commonwealth of Nations and Queen regnant of seven independent countries like United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan and Ceylon. From 1956-1992, the number of her realms varied as few territories gained independence and some became republic. Apart from the first four countries , Elizabeth is Queen of  Jamaica, Barbados, the Bahamas, Grenada, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent, the Grenadines, Belize, Antigua, Antigua and Barbuda, and Saint Kits and Nevis. Her 62 years of monarch is currently the 2^nd longest for a British monarch, after her grandmother Queen Victoria has reigned longer over 63 years.

According to the Forbes Magazine, Queen Elizabeth II net worth is estimated upto US$500 million. The Royal collection like Crown Jewels is not owned by Queen personally it is in trust. They own Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and Duchy of Lanster, a property portfolio valued in 2013 at £429 million. There is a lot more to know about this royal family. The private wealth and income of Queen is not known still date .Official Buckingham Palace in 1993 statements and called estimated of about £100million. According to Jock Colville, the former private secretary of Queen, and Coutt, who is director of her bank, stated in 1971 that she owns a wealth of £2 million, which may today be of £24 million. Sandringham house and Balmoral Castle is privately owned by the Queen. Elizabeth built two hospitals for children in year 1942 which were later unified in 1963, named “Princess Elizabeth of York Hospital” at Shadwell, England, and “The Queen Elizabeth Hospital for Children” in Bethnal Green. Her Majesty supports and gives financial support to more than 620 charities and associations; one among them is “Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge”.
