Princess Elizabeth’s father was the second son of the King George V and Queen Mary. And mother Elizabeth was the youngest daughter of Scottish aristocrat Claude Bowes-Lyon, 14th earl of Strathmore and King Horne. Queen Elizabeth II was born in her maternal grandfather’s London house, 17 Bruton Street, Mayfair. She was baptized by the Anglican Archbishop of York, Cosmo Gordon Long, in the private chapel of BuckinghamPalace on May 29th.  Elizabeth I was named Elizabeth after her mother, Alexandra after her great grandmother, who is George V’s mother and Mary after her paternal grandmother (Queen Mary). At the age of 13 Elizabeth fell in love with Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark. Just before wedding Philip was made as Duke of Edinburgh. Later, Elizabeth got married to Philip on November 20th 1947 at Westminster Abbey, in London. Elizabeth gave birth to her first child, Prince Charles. Second child, Princess Anne, third Prince Andrew and the last was Prince Edward.

For her Coronation as the Queen of British Empire, a specially designed coronation gown was designed by Norman Hartnell, on her instructions given the gown was embroidered with the floral emblems of Commonwealth countries: English Tudor rose; Scots thistle; Welsh leek; Irish shamrock; Australian wattle; Canadian male leaf; New Zealand silver fern; South Africa protea; Lotus flowers for India and Ceylon; and Pakistan’s wheat, cotton and jute. The Queen witnessed, over her life, the continued transformation of the British Empire into Commonwealth of Nations. She is also the Supreme Governor of the Church of England. Upon her accession since Feb 6th 1952, Elizabeth became the Head of Commonwealth of Nations and Queen regnant of seven independent countries like United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan and Ceylon. From 1956-1992, the number of her realms varied as few territories gained independence and some became republic. Apart from the first four countries , Elizabeth is Queen of  Jamaica, Barbados, the Bahamas, Grenada, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent, the Grenadines, Belize, Antigua, Antigua and Barbuda, and Saint Kits and Nevis. Her 62 years of monarch is currently the 2nd longest for a British monarch, after her grandmother Queen Victoria has reigned longer over 63 years.
