Steven A. Cohen was born on June 11, 1956 in Great Neck, New York, US. He is an American hedge fund manager. Moreover, he is the founder of SAC Capital Advisors, a Stamford, Connecticut based hedge fund which focused primarily on equity market strategies. In the year 2013, he was ranked by the Forbes list as the 106th richest man in the world. Also, he is ranked number 35th in the US. In the year 2012, he was implicated in a large criminal insider trading scandal. Not only is this, in the year 2013, SAC was charged by the Securities and Exchange Commission with failing to prevent inside trading and paid a fine of $1.2 billion. He is known as one of the most high-profiles in finance, Steven A. Cohen who owns 7% of Chinese search engine giant, Baidu. Moreover, he has been ranked as one of the biggest-spending art collectors in the World.



Steven grew up in the Jewish family. His father was a dress manufacturer in Manhattan’s garment district and mother was a part –time piano teacher. He started liking poker when he was a school student and received the degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in the year 1978. Talking about his personal life, he married to Patricia Finke who was a native from a working class background who grew up in Washington Heights, Manhattan of New York City. They had two children together and later got divorced in the year 1990. In the year 1992, he married to Alexandra Garcia who was a single mom of Puerto Rican Catholic descent from Washington Heights. Steven is said to serve on the Board of Trustees of Brown University and the New York-based Robin Hood Foundation. In the year 2009, he along with his brother were sued by his wife for racketeering and inside trading.
