She was born on 1 December 1945 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Her mother was a seamstress and her father was a painter at the Navy. She was named after the actress Bette Davis. She attended the Redford High school. She was awarded the ‘most talkative student’ award as a student. In 1966, he acted in her first movie as an extra. The movie was Hawaii. She began doing theatre as a teen. She participated in many plays and dramas. In 1970, She began singing in a Gay Bathhouse. In 1972, Bette released her first album, The Divine Miss M. It topped the Billboard charts and was declared a Platinum hit. She won the 1972 Grammy for the Best new artist. She appeared in the who’s rock opera ‘Tommy’. ‘Do you want to dance’, ‘Friends’, and ‘Boogie Boogie Bugle Boy’ were a few hit singles from the album.  Her next self-titled album was released in 1973. The album was an instant hit and sold about a million copies in United States. It received good reviews from the critics. In 1976 and 1977, she released 2 new albums- Songs for the new depression and Broken Blossom. She received a special Tony award in 1974. Midler performed in the U.S. for Africa cause in the song ‘We are the world’. She then signed a multi-film deal with Walt Disney. She then built a very successful comedy acting career. She lent her voice in the animated Disney movie, ‘Oliver and Company’.  The soundtrack of the movie was extremely successful and sold 4 Million copies in the United States of America. She won a Grammy for the ‘record of the year’. She released the album named ‘Some people’s lives’ in 1990. The album was extremely successful and achieved the multi-platinum status.
