Dakota Fanning got a sexy, and grown up make over for the cover shoot of very popular US edition of Cosmopolitan magazine’s February 2012 edition. It strikes a controversy as everyone was not happy to see her in a sexy avatar. The 17 year old debuts her racy, sexy avatar for February issue in which she wore a plunging and figure hugging dress. The run way actress who turned 18 then looked considerably older than her age with smokey dark eye make up, long and flowing blonde hair and a very tight body hugging dress. A perfume advertisement featuring Dakota Fanning was banned on the basis that it appeared to “sexualise a child”. The actress was 17 years of age back then, but she looked much younger in the magazine ad for ” Oh Lola!” where she was pictured sitting on the floor with the perfume bottle between her thighs. The perfume is the creation of the U.S fashion designer Marc Jacob, who said her chose the actress because she could be a ” contemporary Lolita”. The perfume was made by the global beauty brand Coty, which had previously come under scanner for its use of sexual image. The ban was announced by the Advertising Standards Authority ASA and follow calls from the prime minister for action to prevent the sexualisation of children. The Advertising Standards Authority said that ” Oh Lola!” ad showed Dakota sitting on the floor alone wearing a pale colored thigh length dress. It quoted, ” We noted that the model was holding up the perfume bottle which rested in her lap between her legs and we considered that its position was sexually proactive” The authority said, ” We understood the model was 17 years old but we considered she looked under the age 16. Because of that, along with her appearance we considered the ad could be seen to sexualise a child. We therefore concluded that the ad was irresponsible ans was likely to cause serious offence.” Marc Jacobs on the other hand said that, ” Dakota was in it and I knew she could be thing Lolita seductive yet sweet”.
