Foray into acting
In 1968, Danny landed his first part in a movie when he appeared as a thug in the obscure Dreams of Glass.Daniel Michael DeVito, as he is less popularly knows, got his first cut off a Broadway show and became quite the name when the movie One Flow Over the Cukoo’s Nest hit the screens. Soon after this came Taxi, the TV show that made him famous among the masses, earning him the much needed recognition. This fame earned him a ticket to many roles in movies such as Terms of Endearment, Romancing the Stone, The Jewel of the Nile and Throw Momma from the Train.
Producing and directing motion pictures
His interest for direction took wings when he re-united with his co-starts, Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner from Romancing the Stone and directed The War of the Roses. And then there was no turning back, as this Italian American from New Jersey, went onto direct and produce some of the greatest movies of all times, including, Pulp Fiction, Get Shorty, Erin Brockovich and Garden State.
Soon after he started working and directing TV show and became a voice-over artist appearing shows like The Simpsons.

Danny DeVito first met actress Rhea Perlman when she went to see him appearing in the off-Broadway play ‘the Shrinking Bride’ in 1971. That sure was love in the air as they moved in together right after two weeks and the couple got married in the year 1982. Although the couple had their share of ups and downs when they got separated for a brief period after 40 years of marriage, they reconciled soon after. The couple has three kids, two daughters and a son.
Throughout their relationship, Perlman and DeVito have acted alongside each other several times, including in the TV show Taxi and the feature film Matilda.
DeVito is known to be a staunch supporter of vegetarianism and is also a huge animal lover. He practically endorses the concept of vegetarianism as he was once seen tweeting to all his followers on Twitter to watch Forks Over Knives, which is a health documentary that advocates for plant-based diets. He and his wife are members of the steering committee of the Friends of the Apollo.
