Best Recognized by and loved for the role of Nathan Scott which he portrayed in WB teenage drama series One Tree Hill, James Lafferty was born in 1985 in Hemet, California to parents Angie and Jeff Lafferty. He attended school at Hemet High School and enrolled in California State University, Long Beach. His parents own a local business of a construction firm in Hemet but they always encouraged James and his brother Stuart to act as a hobby. James stayed in Hemet till he was 16 years old when he got signed for One Tree Hill. Then he moved to Wilmington, North Carolina where the show was shot.

James Lafferty made his acting debut in 1997 by lending his voice or a television film Annabelle’s Wish. Since then, in television shows like Once and Again, Get Real, and Boston Public, James Lafferty has made guest appearances. He starred in an ESPN film A Season On The Brink. The film was an adaptation of a book by the same name. In 2003, James Lafferty started filming for the popular series One Tree Hill and gained popularity. He played a younger half-brother of Lucas Scott which was played by Chad Michael Murray. There is not much revealed about the money the show made but the cast was paid between $90,000 and $150,000 per episode and the series premiere was watched by over 2.5 million viewers. Since James was one of the leading star casts of the show, he earned quite a lot for his stint throughout the 9 seasons of the show. James Lafferty has also worked in other television shows like Prep and First Monday. Controversies

While shooting for the final season of One Tree Hill, James Lafferty got caught up in the middle of a controversy when his role was cut short and his appearance in the series finale was uncertain. However, the studio and James reached a deal and eventually James returned to North Carolina in order to film for the series finale. Another controversy stirred up while Lafferty was dating co actor Sophia Bush who was earlier married to another lead actor from One Tree Hill, Chad Michael Murray. Chad confirmed Sophia and James relationship in 2008 by quoting “Sophia and I are both professional and mature enough to get through it. And now it’s just easy. We’re just friends. She’s got James, and James and I are friends.”
