Jerry Bruckheimer is famously known for the amazing series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, Without a Trace, Cold Case. He is best known for movies that include Top gun, Con Air, Pearl Harbor, Pirate of the Caribbean and the National Treasure franchise. Many of the films were produced by Disney and Paramount.

Jerome Leon “Jerry” Bruckheimer was born in 1943 in Detriot, Michigan. He is the son of German Jewish immigrants. Jerry passed out of University of Arizona with a degree in Psychology. He has always been a “movie person” and has had an avid interest in photography. After graduating, Bruckheimer worked in advertising and produced award-winning commercial.

Bruckheimer has produced over 40 feature films as of 2010. He is one of the most successful film producers in the industry. Jerry ventured into film production in 1970s. He produced movies like The Culpepper Cattle Company, Farewell, My Lovely and March or Die with director, Dick Richards. He started being recognised in the Hollywood industry after producing films American Gigolo and Cat people. Bruckheimer has given a series of successful films for Paramount Pictures.

Bruckheimer has produced a lot of successful films like Top Gun, Pirates of the Caribbean series and Black Hawk Don.

Television Production

Bruckheimer, initially, started producing advertisements before stepping into film production. Since 1997, he produced a lot of police dramas that have been really successful.

Bruckheimer’s recorded flop series was a drama called Skin, which cancelled only after three of its episodes were aired.

Entertainment Weekly named Bruckheimer the No. 1 most-powerful person in Hollywood, in 2003. He has also won six Academy Awards, five Grammy Awards, four Golden Globe Awards, nine Emmy Awards, four People’s Choice Awards and numerous MTV Awards.

In 2013, Bruckheimer received a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, right next to E! Capitan Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard.

PERSONAL LIFE

Bruckheimer lives with his second wife, Linda Sue (Cobb) Balahoutis Bruckheimer. He has a step daughter too. The couple own a farm in Kentucky and Ojai. Linda has a big heart and believes in giving back to the community. She regularly spends time as a preservation activist, restoring and preserving historic buildings in small rural U.S. towns.

Bruckheimer’s film company, Jerry Bruckheimer Films, is located in California.

SPORTS OWNERSHIP

Bruckheimer is also known to have invested in a new sports arena in Las Vegas. He is also rumored to be the leading choice by the National Hockey League to own an expansion hockey team that would play in the above mentioned area.

POLITICAL CAUSES

Bruckheimer is known to have donated funds to John McCain’s 2008 presidential election campaign. He donated $25,000 to the 2012 Mitt Romney Victory Fund among a long list of other things.

PHILANTHROPY

Bruskheimer, through the Nancy Davis Foundation for MS, has publicly supported the fight against multiple sclerosis. He has also established the Jerry Bruchheimer Foundation to help various other causes though the last record of the said Foundation making a contribution was in 1995. Bruckheimer has aided in the repair and restoration of the historic clipper ship Cutty Sark.

Bruskheimer, in 2007, announced his plans of entering into a partnership with MTV to create a new game studio. There were rumors of work going on in this regard but in 2013, Jerry Bruckheimer Games was declared closed.

Bruckheimer says “We are in the transportation business. We transport audiences from one place to another”. He is of the views that “If I made films for the critics, or for someone else, I’d probably be living in some small Hollywood studio apartment”. Going by this, one can infer that according to the producer, it is difficult to satisfy both the audience and the critics. His job, as a creator, is to transport the audiences into a totally different universe which is much more exciting and normally, different from the lives of the common people in the real world.
