Milla Jovovich was born on December 17, 1975 in Kiev, Ukrainian SSR, former Soviet Union. Her father is Serbian and her mother is Russian. She speaks Russian and English fluently and identifies herself as a Russian, Serbian and Ukrainian. Her family moved to London when she was five years old and later to Los Angeles. Milla attended public schools in Los Angeles. She was teased by classmates in school for coming from the Soviet Union and was called a Russian spy.She left seventh grade when she was 12 to focus on modelling. She admits to being rebellious during her early teens, engaging in drug use, shopping mall vandalism, and credit-card fraud.

 

Modelling career-

 

Milla started her modelling career at the age of nine. When she was 12, Herb Ritts booked her for the cover of Lei, an Italian magazine. She had contracts with leading magazines like Vogue & Cosmopolitan and has appeared in more than hundreds of magazines like Seventeen, Mademoiselle and Glamour. She has also appeared for various campaigns like Revlon, H&M, Giorgio Armani, Coach, Banana Republic, Christian Dior, Damiani, Calvin Klein and DKNY. Jovovich topped Forbes magazine’s “Richest Supermodels of the World” list in 2004.

 

Acting -

 

Milla Jovovich has acted in numerous movies, amongst which could be mentioned- Two Moon Junction, Return to the blue Lagoon, The Fifth Element, The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc, The Fourth Kind, The Three Musketeers and the Resident Evil movies. Apart from films she has also acted in television series like Paradise and Married.. with children. Survivor and Resident Evil Rising are her upcoming films of 2015.

 She released her music album -The Divine Comedy at the age of 16. Jovovich has contributed tracks to movies like The Million Dollar Hotel, Dummy, and Underworld and more.

 

 Jovovich with fellow model and friend Carmen Hawk launched a line of clothing called Jovovich-Hawk in 2003. Jovovich and Hawk designed the costume for Jovovich’s character in Resident Evil: Extinction.

Jovovich practices martial arts and yoga. She said that her only vices were cigarettes and cannabis. She also meditates often and considers herself as a “spiritual person”.

 

In 1992, Jovovich married her then boyfriend Shawn Andrews but the marriage lasted for only two months. Later she dated Stuart Zender from May 1994 to October 1995. She dated photographer Mario Sorrenti from 1995 to 1997. She married The Fifth Element director Luc Besson in 1997 but they divorced in 1999. Jovovich datedformer Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante, for seven months in 2000. Jovovich was also romantically involved with poet and musician, Anno Birkin until his death in a car accident on November 8, 2001.

 

Jovovich is currently married to film writer and director Paul W. S. Anderson whom she met while working on the film Resident Evil. They got married in August of 2009 and have a daughter- Ever Gabo Anderson.
