Omari Ishmael Grandberry was born on November 12, 1984 in Inglewood, California. He is more popularly known by his stage name Omarion. The American origin artist began his career as a singer in a R&B group B2K. Omarion began performing at the age of 5 and went on to pursue his passion, the performing arts, after he dropped out of school. His first stint in the entertainment industry was as a part of commercials for Kellogs Corn Pops and McDonald’s. He also made cameo appearances in music videos of a R&B girl group called Before Dark.
MUSICAL CAREER
In 1995, he was approached with a proposal from notable music manager Chris Stokes about creating a new band called B2K(Which was short for boys of a new millennium.) Omarion agreed to the formation of this band as he would be positioned as the lead singer. The group’s debut album was released on March 12 2002 and it was titled B2K. The album immediately debuted at #2 on the Billboard top 200. What made this album famous is the presence of hit singles such as “Gots to be” and “Why I love you.” “Gots to be” made it to the list of top 40 singles by breaking at #34 and “Why I love you” was released in Spring that year.

This album helped Omarion and his band garner a huge amount of popularity when the album was certified gold that summer. B2K was also called upon by the famous channel for children and young adults- Nickelodeon. They were also featured in popular magazines Word up and Right on along with other RnB artists. Not long after, December 2002 saw the release of the boy bans album Pandemonium! which debuted at #10 on the Billboards 200 and at #3 on the top RnB/Hip hop albums. This album featured collaborations with the likes of P. Diddy, Makeba Riddick, Romeo of IMx and Jhene.
However, Omarion had different plans; of going solo. On February 22 2005, Omarion released his first solo album ‘O.’ The album debuted at #1 on the Billboards and was part of the top R&B/Hip-Hop albums. It featured a single Touch which made it to the Billboards Hot 100 at #94. O went on to sell nearly 7,58,000 copies till date.
On December 26 2006, He released his second album ‘21.’ The album was also hugely successful when it debuted at #1 on the Billboard top 200 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop albums charts. This album had a single titled ‘Ice box’ which was produced by Timbaland. The track ran hot at #12 on the Billboard’s top 100 and is Omarion’s most successful single till date.
In late 2007, Omarion collaborated with rap artist Bow Wow to release his third album titled ‘Face Off.’ The album sold over 1,00,000 copies within the first week of its release. The album had famous singles from his career such as “Hey Baby” and “Girlfriend”
On March 2009, Lil Wayne officially confirmed that the upcoming artist was indeed signed on to Young Money entertainment. However, four short months later, he chose to part ways with the label, claiming that he needed his own space to breathe as an artist, and not be overshadowed by other famous rap influences. Rumours allege that he felt overshadowed and threatened by Lil Wayne.

Shortly after this stormy conflict, in 2010, Omarion began his own record label Starrworld entertainment under which he released his next album, ‘Ollusion’ which sold 19,400 copies in the first week of its release. However, Omarion’s single “I Get It In” which was originally done in collaboration with Lil Wayne, showed up on the album only difference being, Lil Wayne’s parts were replaced by prominent RnB artist Gucci Mane.
Acting Career
In addition to being a successful musician, Omarion is also a talented actor. His most notable performance was in the 2004 movie ‘You Got Served’ in which he starred alongside Marques Houston and his other band mates (B2K.) In the same year, he played the role of a bully in ‘Fat Albert.’ His next break in the world of acting and movies was when in 2007, he acted in a thriller movie called “Somebody help me.” The movie was released on DVD and aired exclusively by BET on the occasion of Halloween. He played the role of Fifteen cent in The proud family movie. He portrayed a rapper who gets into the deep with thugs in his next movie Feel the noise which was critically acclaimed.

He has also appeared in a series of cameos on the small screens. His guest appearances include the popular TV show One on one.
PERSONAL LIFE
On February 16 2014, the rapper posted to his Instagram account that his long term girlfriend Apryl, was pregnant with his baby. He posted a photo of the ultrasound scan to Instagram. Apryl who is also a singer/songwriter also posted the good news to her Instagram account. Both of them hinted that it might be a baby boy.
