Born on 4th June 1975, this American actress needs no introduction, does she? She is one of the most successful actresses in Hollywood. She has received hundreds of awards, the list of which is endless and was named Hollywood’s highest paid actress by Forbes in 2009. Not only for her film assignments, this lasso is equally known for making a mark in her services to the society at large and is also a former Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). People have and still regard her as one of the most beautiful woman in the world.

Born in Los Angeles to actors Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand, she is the sister of actor James Haven, niece of singer and songwriter Chip Taylor, and goddaughters of actors Jacqueline Bisset and Maximilian Schell. She is half German and half French Canadian. After her parents’ separation, she and her brother were raised by their mother. She used to watch films as a child and expressed her interest in the field. She later took up acting classes at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and was trained there for two years.
At the age of 14, she dropped out of her acting classes and aspired to become a funeral director. She started modeling and during that period was no less than a punk kid with tattoos, experimented with knife play and was living in with her boyfriend.

But her professional career began back in 1993, where she played the lead for the first time in a low budget science fiction, Cyborg 2. Angelina Jolie’s sad days started seeing a ray of light after her first Golden Globe for her performance in George Wallace. The film was very well received and received several other awards and also won Jolie an Emmy Award nomination. With Gia, where Jolie played the supermodel Gia Carangi, portraying her destruction of life and career as a result of addiction to heroin, Jolie won her Golden Globe Award for the second consecutive year and also won her first Screen Actors Guild Award.

Later she returned to Cambodia and donated $1 million in response to an international UNHCR emergency. She was later announced as a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador in Geneva on August 27, 2001.

To connect her Cambodian born son to his roots, Jolie purchased a house in his country in 2003. She purchased the surrounding 60,000 hectares and turned the area into a wildlife reserve named after her son, the Maddox Jolie Project. In 2006, she expanded the project and created Asia’s first Millennium Village in accordance with the UN Development Goals. Apart from this, she built ten other schools in Cambodia and funds the Maddox Chivan Children’s Center, a care facility for HIV affected children.
