Jon Stewart was born as Jonathan Stuart Leibowitz on November 28, 1962, in New York City. His mother, Marian, is an educational consultant and teacher and his father Donald Leibowitz ,was a professor of physics at The College of New Jersey from 2001 through 2008 and later he started teaching online courses at Thomas Edison State College. Jon started his career as a stand up comedian in Bitter End and Comedy Cellar .In 1989, he was given an invitation to host the Comedy Central TV Series Short Attention Span Theater. In 1990’s he appeared on numerous television programs including HBO’s The Larry Sanders Show, HBO comedy special Jon Stewart:Unleavened;guest host of The Late Show with Tom Synder on CBS and guest host of HBO’s Mr. Show with Bob and David. Stewart took over as anchorman for Comedy Central’s The Daily Show in January 1999.The show was later renamed as The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Personal Life
Jon Stewart is Jewish by ethnicity. He is married to Tracy Lyn Mcshane, his girlfriend of four years. In 2001, the couple legally changed their surnames to Stewart. They have two children, a son named Nathan Thomas Stewart and a daughter named Maggie Rose Stewart. His son is 9 years old and daughter is 7 years old. They own a cat named Stanley and two pit bull terriers
